Lorenz Kellhuber shines not only as an exceptional instrumentalist but also as an ingenious improvisator. As the first German musician he received the first price of the renowned Parmigiani Piano Solo Competition at Montreux Jazz Festival from Monty Alexander in summer 2014 and was invited to the first Montreux Jazz Academy where he played with Lee Ritenour, Charles Lloyd and Eric Harland. In 2016 Lorenz was nominated for the ECHO Jazz as “Newcomer of the Year”.
Having released four trio albums, his first solo record, “Live at the Montreux Jazz Festival”, was released on October 20th, 2017, recorded at the 49th Montreux Jazz Festival in July 2015.
Lorenz Kellhuber glänzt gleichermaßen als hervorragender Pianist wie als erfindungsreicher Improvisator. Im Sommer 2014 kürt ihn Monty Alexander als ersten deutschen Musiker zum Sieger der renommierten Parmigiani Montreux Jazz Piano Solo Competition. Als Preisträger besucht Kellhuber daraufhin die Montreux Jazz Academy, wo er mit Lee Ritenour, Charles Lloyd und Eric Harland spielt. 2016 wird er für den ECHO Jazz in der Kategorie „Newcomer des Jahres“ nominiert.
Nach vier Trio-CDs erschien am 20.10.17 sein erstes Soloalbum, "Live At The Montreux Jazz Festival", aufgenommen beim 49. Montreux Jazz Festival im Juli 2015.
