DYKI LYS (which translates to mean ‘Wild Fox’ in Ukrainian) draws its influence from Ukrainian Folklore, Experimental, as well as from Jazz. The band organically forms soundscapes that give a fresh and modern take on music. Softly floating melodies interweave with harmonies rooted in Jazz and lay down on strong grooves influenced by world music rhythms. Maximum sensitivity, spontaneity and the constant search for new musical expression form the distinctive character of DYKI LYS. The music is influenced by artists such as Gretchen Parlato, Charles Lloyd, Tigran Hamasyan and many more.
DYKI LYS is an active part of the music scene in Germany. Since its formation, DYKI LYS has been performing and captivating audiences on many stages in Berlin and all over the country. In March 2016, the quintet released its first record „City Hunter“ which beautifully unveils musical devotion and creativity of all band members. In April 2016, DYKI LYS received a grant from the Berlin Senate for Culture and Europe to support the band's Debut-Release-Tour. In February 2018, the ensemble received another music grant from the Berlin Senate for Culture and Europe. At the moment DYKI LYS is preparing new compositions as well as arrangements of Ukrainian folklore for the recording of a second record.
Die Musik von DYKI LYS ("Wilder Fuchs" aus dem Ukrainischen) verbindet den modernen Jazz mit der Melancholie der ukrainischer Folklore sowie Elementen der klassischen und der populären Musik. Zarte Melodien werden von den im Jazz verwurzelten Harmonien umarmt und durch kraftvolle, teilweise durch osteuropäische Rhythmen geprägten Grooves getragen. Die Bandleaderin Ganna Gryniva singt auf Englisch und Ukrainisch, ihrer Muttersprache. Sie experimentiert mit Loops und Effekten. Die Musik sind inspiriert von Künstlern wie Charles Lloyd, Tigran Hamasyan, Gretchen Parlato.
DYKI LYS ist ein aktiver Teil der jungen deutschen Musikszene. Bei zahlreichen Auftritten in der Hauptstadt sowie der gesamten Republik konnte die Band ihre ZuhörerInnen von unerschöpflicher Kreativität und Hingabe überzeugen. Im April 2016 veröffentlichte DYKI LYS ihren ersten Tonträger "City Hunter". Berliner Senat förderte die Debut-Release-Tour der Band im Mai 2016. Im Februar 2018 erhielt die Band erneut die Musikförderung Jazz des Berliner Senats. Momentan bereitet DYKI LYS neue Kompositionen sowie Arrengements ukrainischer Folklore für die Aufnahme einer zweiten Platte vor.

ENTRANCE FEES
One of the reasons that makes the zig zag jazz club so unique is that it is the first and only jazz club in the world that manages to finance world class events through a crowd funding concept. How do we do it? Its quite simple… during the break of the concert we make an announcement regarding the collection for the evening. For most concerts (excluding the jam session) we inform our customers that a fee of around 15€ per person will allow us to fairly compensate the musicians. Some people give more and some give less… and that´s ok… we ´ve already successfully promoted hundreds of concerts like this!!!
EINTRITT
Einer der Gründe, die den Zig Zag Jazzclub so einzigartig machen, ist, dass er der erste und einzige Jazzclub der Welt ist, dem es gelingt nur durch freiwilligem Eintritt/Crowdfunding Events von Weltklasse zu finanzieren. Und wie machen wir das? Ganz einfach. Während der Konzertpause geben wir bekannt, dass wir Geld einsammeln werden. Bei den meisten Konzerten (außer Jam Sessions) informieren wir unsere Kunden, dass ein Beitrag von ungefähr 15 Euro es uns erlaubt die Musiker gerecht zu bezahlen. Manche geben dabei mehr und andere weniger... und das ist auch in Ordnung. Wir haben auf diese Weise schon Hunderte Konzerte organisiert.
