The duos KARPAROV (BG) & BRUNN (D) and Cathrin Pfeifer (D) & Topo Gioia (ARG) will present on 17.02.19 interesting own compositions in ZIGZAG.
KARPAROV & BRUNN play urban world-jazz, which combines the sound of Berlin and the sound worlds of Occident and Orient. Alexander Schmitz writes about the duo CD "East Side Story" in the Jazzpodium: " The shaping of the repetoire is perfect. The sound of Brunn’s 7-string guitar is varied and breathtaking, especially in the bi-ethnic fantastical piece „Sofia”. Karparov, the Bulgarian folk player and international established Jazz academic, also plays to eliminate the musical boundaries of both worlds. They are in end effect the parallel image of one another. There is no better duo out there. …“
About Cathrin Pfeifer & Topo Gioia writes the "Freie Presse": "The musicians warmly and stylishly add folkloric and jazz elements to their own sound. Without doubt a congenial team. Coincidence down to the last note of each piece ... "
And of course the two duos will also play together. Worth mentioning: compositions by the music colleague Hans Hartmann (CH) will also be performed, which have been arranged for the concert.
Die Duos Karparov & Brunn und Cathrin Pfeifer & Topo Gioia präsentieren am 17.02.2019 gemeinsam in verschiedenen Konstellationen interessante eigene Kompositionen in Zig Zag Jazzclub. Wir freuen uns darauf. :-)

Was Brunn aus seiner Sevenstring holt, ist, wie in der Bi-Ethno-Phantasie „Sofia", atemraubend und extrem vielseitig, und Karparov, der bulgarische Folklorist und akademisch fundierte Jazz-Weltbürger, zerspielt tatsächlich auch noch die letzten Grenzen. Der eine ist hier des andern Alter Ego. Für ein Duo gibt's nichts Besseres. ...“
Über Cathrin Pfeifer & Topo Gioia schreibt die „Freie Presse“: „Die Musiker verweben warmherzig und stilsicher folkloristische und jazzige Elemente zu einem ganz eigenen Sound. Zweifelsohne ein kongeniales Gespann. Stimmigkeit bis auf den letzten Ton eines jeden Stückes...“
Und natürlich werden die beiden Duos auch zusammenspielen. Erwähnenswert: Es werden auch Kompositionen des schwer erkrankten Musikerkollegen Hans Hartmann (CH) erklingen, welche für das Konzert neu arrangiert wurden.

ENTRANCE FEES
One of the reasons that makes the zig zag jazz club so unique is that it is the first and only jazz club in the world that manages to finance world class events through a crowd funding concept. How do we do it? Its quite simple… during the break of the concert we make an announcement regarding the collection for the evening. For most concerts (excluding the jam session) we inform our customers that a fee of around 15€ per person will allow us to fairly compensate the musicians. Some people give more and some give less… and that´s ok… we ´ve already successfully promoted hundreds of concerts like this!!!
EINTRITT
Einer der Gründe, die den Zig Zag Jazzclub so einzigartig machen, ist, dass er der erste und einzige Jazzclub der Welt ist, dem es gelingt nur durch freiwilligem Eintritt/Crowdfunding Events von Weltklasse zu finanzieren. Und wie machen wir das? Ganz einfach. Während der Konzertpause geben wir bekannt, dass wir Geld einsammeln werden. Bei den meisten Konzerten (außer Jam Sessions) informieren wir unsere Kunden, dass ein Beitrag von ungefähr 15 Euro es uns erlaubt die Musiker gerecht zu bezahlen. Manche geben dabei mehr und andere weniger... und das ist auch in Ordnung. Wir haben auf diese Weise schon Hunderte Konzerte organisiert.
