For a special concert night, the Maria Baptist Trio, who has been seen as "one of the most exciting contemporary jazz formations in Europe“ (12on14 Jazzclub) and Icelandic's leading saxophonist Sigurdur Flosason are playing for the first time within this trio together. Maria and Sigurdur share a long time musical history- Maria has been a regular guest conductor joining the Reykjavik Big Band with her music and has also been playing with Sigurdur’s quartet. Now Maria invited him to join her Berlin projects.
The program will be a mixture of Maria’s and Sigudur's original music: Maria’s music is creating „deep worlds of sound, which are seldom heard in Europe today“ (Cosmo Scharmer), while Sigurdur's music is dedicated to the stark and exotic nature of the highlands of his native Iceland. This a one of a kind concert event.
Für einen besonderen Konzertabend spielen das Maria Baptist Trio, das als "eine der spannendsten zeitgenössischen Jazzformationen Europas" gilt (12on14 Jazzclub), und Islands führender Saxophonist Sigurdur Flosason erstmals gemeinsam in Maria's Trio. Maria und Sigurdur verbindet eine langjährige musikalische Geschichte- Maria war regelmäßige Gastdirigentin der Reykjavik Big Band mit ihrer Musik und sie gab auch Konzerte mit Sigurdurs Quartett. Nun hat ihn Maria als Gast für ihre Berliner Projekte eingeladen:
Das Programm wird eine Mischung aus Marias und Sigudurs Musik sein: Marias Musik schafft "tiefe Klangwelten, die heutzutage selten in Europa zu hören sind" (Cosmo Scharmer), während Sigurdurs Musik der rauen und exotischen Natur des Hochlandes seiner Heimat Island gewidmet ist. Das wird ein einzigartiges Konzerterlebnis.
