G A N N A is the Berlin based ensemble of the Ukrainian singer Ganna Gryniva. The music courageously bridges several worlds from jazz to folklore to experimental and neoclassical aesthetics. Highly virtuoso and playful, but also full of melancholy, the musicians immerse themselves in the history and the mystery of the various music traditions and create a neo-native language. Inspired by several travels in various regions of Ukraine, G A N N A awakens the Ukrainian folklore for a second spring and takes its listeners on a journey.
After three years of traveling together, playing concerts, single releases, video shoots and making music, G A N N A presents its debut album D y k i L y s („Wild Fox" in Ukrainian) and invites to the album pre-listening.
The band members contribute to the unique sound of G A N N A by uniting their various musical and cultural roots in an organic way. Ganna Gryniva sets the frame of the music with her charismatic and expressive voice. With various musical projects and as a scholarship holder of the DAAD and the Neue Liszt Stiftung she has been touring different countries: Greece, France, Germany, Ukraine, South Africa, Poland, Switzerland, Austria. Povel Widestrand delights with his unmistakable soft and brilliant sound and his virtuoso solos. In October 2018, he won the prestigious prize of the Swedish Radio "Jazz Newcomer of the Year 2018". Saxophonist Musina Ebobissé opens up a new world and adds another dimension to the music. His debut album will be released on Double Moon Records as part of the Jazzthing next Generation series 2019. Mathais Ruppnig and Tom Berkmann are the musical soulmates who form the solid ground for the music. Each of them has been awarded numerous prizes. Together they can also be heard on the new record of Tobias Meinhart featuring Kurt Rosenwinkel (Sunnyside Records 2019) and on the new record of their band "Scopes" with up and coming musicians of the international jazz scene Ben van Gelder and Tony Tixier (Whirlwind Recordings, 2019).
G A N N A ist das Berliner Ensemble der ukrainischen Sängerin Ganna Gryniva. G A N N A vereint in sich musikalische Welten von Jazz über Folklore bis zu experimenteller und neo-klassischer Ästhetik. Hochvirtuos, spielerisch, lebendig, aber auch voller Melancholie tauchen die Musiker*innen in die Geschichte und das Mysterium der verschiedenen Musiktraditionen ein und erschaffen eine Neo-Muttersprache. Inspiriert durch mehrere Reisen in die verschiedensten Regionen der Ukraine erweckt G A N N A die ukrainische Folklore zu einem zweiten Frühling und zieht die Zuhörenden ihn ihre Bahn.
Nach drei Jahren gemeinsamer Reisen, Konzerte, Single-Releases, Video-Shoots und musikalischer Experimente präsentiert G A N N A ihr Debut-Album D y k i L y s - „Wilder Fuchs“ aus dem Ukrainischen - und lädt zum Album Pre-listening ein.
Die einzelnen Bandmitglieder formen den Sound des Ensembles, indem sie ihre verschiedenen musikalischen und kulturellen Backgrounds auf eine organische Weise vereinen. Ganna Gryniva setzt mit ihrer charismatischen und ausdrucksstarken Stimme den Rahmen für das musikalische Geschehen. Mit verschiedenen Projekten und als Stipendiatin des DAAD und der Neuen Liszt Stiftung tourte sie durch Länder wie Griechenland, Frankreich, Deutschland, Ukraine, Südafrika, Polen, Österreich, Schweiz, Italien. Povel Widestrand begeistert mit seinem unverwechselbaren weichen und brillanten Sound und seinen virtuosen Soli. Im Oktober 2018 gewann er den renommierten schwedischen Rundfunkpreis "Jazz Newcomer of the Year 2018". Der Saxophonist Musina Ebobissé fügt der Musik eine ungeahnte Dimension hinzu. Sein Debut-Album erscheint bei Double Moon Records als Teil der Jazzthing Next Generation Reihe 2019. Mathias Ruppnig und Tom Berkmann sind zwei musikalische Seelenverwandten. Sie bilden die stabile Grundlage des Ensembles. One of the reasons that makes the zig zag jazz club so unique is that it is the first and only jazz club in the world that manages to finance world class events through a crowd funding concept. How do we do it? Its quite simple… during the break of the concert we make an announcement regarding the collection for the evening. For most concerts (excluding the jam session) we inform our customers that a fee of around 15€ per person will allow us to fairly compensate the musicians. Some people give more and some give less… and that´s ok… we ´ve already successfully promoted hundreds of concerts like this!!!
EINTRITT
Einer der Gründe, die den Zig Zag Jazzclub so einzigartig machen, ist, dass er der erste und einzige Jazzclub der Welt ist, dem es gelingt nur durch freiwilligem Eintritt/Crowdfunding Events von Weltklasse zu finanzieren. Und wie machen wir das? Ganz einfach. Während der Konzertpause geben wir bekannt, dass wir Geld einsammeln werden. Bei den meisten Konzerten (außer Jam Sessions) informieren wir unsere Kunden, dass ein Beitrag von ungefähr 15 Euro es uns erlaubt die Musiker gerecht zu bezahlen. Manche geben dabei mehr und andere weniger... und das ist auch in Ordnung. Wir haben auf diese Weise schon Hunderte Konzerte organisiert.
