Christoph Spangenberg was born in 1986 in Berlin, Germany. He is a young pianist, songwriter and producer with an exceptional artistic career. Starting with piano lessons at the age of 6 the development of his musical skills became serious very fast. After graduating from the G.F.Händel-Gymnasium he has won numerous prizes as solo artist as well as head of several bands. His apprenticeship in classical piano and jazz piano in Berlin and Hamburg earned him multiple scholarships, one of which allowed him to continue his professional training in New York City, for example. Concert tours to Los Angeles, Beijing, Shanghai, Cuba, Rome, Paris and many more have inspired him to pursue a variety of musical genres since he was 12 years old. Reggae, Dancehall and Salsa are as much a natural repertoire to him as is Pop, Electronic or Balkan Music. In 2008, Christoph volunteered for the German “Musicians Without Borders” association to help build up a music school in a Guayaquil, Ecuador slum area. He is one of the few German pianists and keyboarders, who does not only feel comfortable playing the grand piano in a cozy jazzclub, but also likes to play analog keyboards mostly on huge open air stages at rock and pop festivals. Parallel to his continuous efforts dedicated to his bands “Fischer Spangenberg Quartett” (German Grammy-award winner in Jazz in 2011, Support for Nils Landgren) he was given his first gold record at the age of 23 as studio musician with “Stanfour” (i.e. support act of A-HA and P!NK). He toured internationally with the band from 2009 to 2013. In 2013, he joined the live-soundsystem “Ohrbooten” from Berlin and is taking full responsibility for the uncountable keys of this 4-man “Gyp Hop” Act. During his musical journey in India in 2014 he formed the Slowtec Liveact DUNG together with Ben, known as lead-singer of Ohrbooten. They were instantly invited to perform at the famous Fusion Festival. He is involved in the creative output of other artists (i.e. young rising star of jazz harp, Konstantin Reinfeld) as a producer as well. Currently he is working on the Ohrbooten-Spin-Off for children “D!E GÄNG” and with the female vocalists of “The Airlettes”, who are as charming as outstanding. In 2017 he was asked to perform his solo piano program “Christoph Spangenberg plays Nirvana” at the famous Elbphilharmonie in Hamburg. Therefore this project represents the flagship of his musical appearances.

Julian Külpmann The award-winning and renowned drummer Julian Külpmann was born in Hanover and began playing drums at the age 7 and hasn't stopped ever since. ENTRANCE FEES
One of the reasons that makes the zig zag jazz club so unique is that it is the first and only jazz club in the world that manages to finance world class events through a crowd funding concept. How do we do it? Its quite simple… during the break of the concert we make an announcement regarding the collection for the evening. For most concerts (excluding the jam session) we inform our customers that a fee of around 15€ per person will allow us to fairly compensate the musicians. Some people give more and some give less… and that´s ok… we ´ve already successfully promoted hundreds of concerts like this!!

EINTRITT
