Gemeinsam mit Thomas Morgan und Rudy Royston nimmt sie Bill Frisell mit auf eine Reise in seine Musik; voller Tiefe, Emotion und Einfallsreichtum.

Bill Frisell ist ein US-amerikanischer Gitarrist, der nun seit mehreren Jahrzehnten zur kreativen Spitze der Jazzwelt gehört. Seit den 1980ern veröffentlichte Frisell als Leader und Sideman dutzende Alben auf Labels wie ACT, ECM und Blue Note Records. Er besuchte die Berklee School of Music, bevor er sich nach New York aufmachte, um in der dortigen Musikszene mitzumischen. Er arbeitete mit Jazzgrößen wie Joe Lovano, Paul Motian, Dave Douglas zusammen, komponierte Filmmusik, kuratierte Konzertreihen, vertonte die Bilder Gerhard Richters und wurde 6mal für den Grammy nominiert; 2005 gewann er den Preis für das beste Jazzalbum. In seiner Musik verbindet Frisell tiefes musikalisches Understatement, präzise Artikulation und verschiedenste Traditionen von Jazz bis hin zu amerikanischem Bluegrass und kammermusikalischen, fast meditativen Klangwelten.

Luke Bergman ist ein in New York lebender Multiinstrumentalist. Er arbeitete mit Bill Frisell als Bassist, Gitarrist und Sänger und ist auf dessen Album Harmony zu hören. Als Pedal-Steel-Gitarrist hat er einen unverwechselbaren Ansatz entwickelt und spielt darauf nicht nur traditionell verwurzelte Musik, sondern ebenso Jazz und klassische Werke. Bergman veröffentlichte zwei Soloalben sowie ein Trioalbum mit Jason Burger und Martin Nevin. Er ist regelmäßig in New York live zu erleben und im Studio aktiv. Aufgewachsen im pazifischen Nordwesten, war er dort Mitglied der Band Heatwarmer – als Komponist, Bassist und Sänger. Außerdem wirkte er bei Thousands (Gitarre, Gesang), Lonesome Shack (Bass, Dobro) und dem Cuong Vu 4-tet (Bass) mit.

Rudy Royston ist seit fast zwanzig Jahren professioneller Lehrer, Schlagzeuger und Perkussionist. Er studierte klassisches Schlagzeug an der University of Denver, wo er einen Bachelor-Abschluss in Musik und Englisch erwarb. Seit seinem Umzug nach Piscataway, New Jersey ist er mit vielen der besten Jazz-Musiker der Szen aufgetreten: Bill Frisell, Les McCann, David Gilmore, Ben Allison, Jason Moran, JD Allen, Sean Jones, Jeremy Pelt, Greg Osby, Jennifer Holiday, Ravi Coltrane, Ralph Bowen, Don Byron, Stanley Cowell, Tom Harrell, John Ellis, Jenny Scheinmenn und The Mingus Big Band, um nur einige zu nennen. Als Liebhaber aller Musikgenres verfolgt Rudy weiterhin jedwede Musik und erweitert seinen musikalischen Horizont.

Bill Frisell has been one of the world’s most influential guitarists since the 1980s — if not, as the Irish Times wrote, “one of the most important and groundbreaking musicians of our time.” Together with Thomas Morgan and Rudy Royston, Frisell embarks on a journey through his musical universe—full of depth, emotion, and remarkable ingenuity.

Bill Frisell is an American guitarist who has been at the creative forefront of the jazz world for several decades. Since the 1980s, he has released dozens of albums as both leader and sideman on labels such as ACT, ECM, and Blue Note Records. After studying at the Berklee School of Music, he moved to New York to immerse himself in the city’s vibrant music scene. He worked with jazz luminaries such as Joe Lovano, Paul Motian, and Dave Douglas; composed film scores; curated concert series; set music to the works of Gerhard Richter; and received six Grammy nominations, winning the award for Best Jazz Album in 2005.

Frisell’s music blends deep musical understatement with precise articulation, drawing on a wide spectrum of traditions—from jazz to American bluegrass, from chamber-like textures to almost meditative soundscapes.

Luke Bergman is a multi-instrumentalist based in New York City. He has worked with Bill Frisell as a bassist, guitarist and vocalist and appears on Frisell’s album “HARMONY”. As a pedal steel guitarist, he is known for his distinctive approach to the instrument, performing jazz and classical music alongside repertoire traditionally associated with that instrument. He has released two solo albums and one trio album with Jason Burger and Martin Nevin. He performs and records regularly in and around New York. Luke grew up in the Pacific Northwest. During his time there he was active in the band Heatwarmer as a composer, bassist and vocalist. He also contributed to Thousands (guitar and vocals), Lonesome Shack (bass and dobro) and The Cuong Vu 4-tet (bass).

Rudy Royston has been a professional teacher, drummer and percussionist for nearly twenty years. He studied classical percussion at the University of Denver, where he earned a bachelor's degree in music and English. Since moving to Piscataway, New Jersey he has performed with many of the best jazz musicians on the scene: Bill Frisell, Les McCann, David Gilmore, Ben Allison, Jason Moran, JD Allen, Sean Jones, Jeremy Pelt, Greg Osby, Jennifer Holiday, Ravi Coltrane, Ralph Bowen, Don Byron, Stanley Cowell, Tom Harrell, John Ellis, Jenny Scheinmenn and The Mingus Big Band, to name a few. A lover of all genres of music, Rudy continues to pursue any and all music and expand his musical horizons.
