ART ZENTRAL: Zum 20-jährigen Jubiläum kommen Pegelia Gold und Art Zentral erstmals wieder zusammen, um gemeinsam zu feiern – das, was war, und das, was ist. Eine Reise zurück zu den Anfängen, die diese schöne, wilde und eigenwillige Musik wieder aufleben lässt.

Die Musik von Art Zentral lässt sich nur schwer kategorisieren. Aus dem Jazz kommend, dabei stilistisch ungebunden und komplex, entwickelte die Formation einen unverwechselbaren Klang zwischen experimentellem Jazz, Kammermusik und Rockelementen. Ihre Konzerte entfalten eine besondere Intensität: Musiker und Publikum teilen die Konzentration auf den gemeinsamen Augenblick und tauchen in Klangräume ein, die mal weitläufig und nuanciert, mal dicht und kraftvoll erscheinen. Surrealistische, beinahe neoromantische deutsche Texte treffen auf die freien Elemente des Jazz und schaffen Raum für eigene Assoziationen. Zwischen träumerisch-pittoresken und bizarr aufwühlenden Klangwelten gelingt es Art Zentral, ein bemerkenswert vielfältiges Publikum in seinen Bann zu ziehen.

PEGELIA GOLD, geboren 1979 in Jena, ist Sängerin, Komponistin und Lyrikerin. Ihre Kunst ist geprägt vom surrealen Schwebezustand ihrer Jugendjahre im wiedervereinten Deutschland und knüpft an die eigenwillige Sprache der europäischen Avantgarde des ausgehenden 20. Jahrhunderts an.

Sie studierte Religionswissenschaft und Archäologie in Leipzig sowie Musikwissenschaft in Weimar und schloss 2009 ihr Musikstudium an der Hochschule für Musik Würzburg ab. Gold veröffentlichte fünf Studioalben, komponierte Musik für Hörspiel und Film und ist im Film „Chaos und Stille“ von Anatol Schuster zu sehen.

Als Sidewoman war sie an zahlreichen weiteren Produktionen beteiligt, darunter Rundfunkaufnahmen mit Peter Fulda, Art Zentral und dem Polychrome Orchestra. Mit dem Projekt „Orpheus Has Just Left the Building“ um den Pianisten und Komponisten Peter Fulda wurde sie für den Preis der deutschen Schallplattenkritik nominiert.

Vor ihrer Bühnenkarriere widmete sich Gold intensiv der Bildhauerei und bereiste Europa als Straßenmusikerin. Als Wandlerin zwischen musikalischen Welten interpretiert sie Werke vom Barock bis zur zeitgenössischen Avantgarde. Gold versteht sich als Klangalchemistin, in deren Kompositionen das weite Spektrum ihrer musikalischen Erfahrung und künstlerischen Forschung miteinander verschmilzt.

Das Debütalbum „Zeichenschleier“ feierte 2025 sein 15-jähriges Jubiläum. Das Album wurde remastert und ist erstmals digital auf allen gängigen Streaming-Plattformen verfügbar.

ART ZENTRAL: For their 20th anniversary, Pegelia Gold and Art Zentral reunite for the first time to celebrate together – what was, and what is. A journey back to the beginnings, bringing this beautiful, wild and distinctive music back to life.
The music of Art Zentral is difficult to categorize. Rooted in jazz, yet stylistically unbound and complex, the ensemble has developed a distinctive sound between experimental jazz, chamber music and elements of rock. Their concerts unfold with a particular intensity: musicians and audience share a deep focus on the collective experience of the moment and enter sonic spaces that are at times expansive and nuanced, at others dense and powerful. Surrealist, almost neo-romantic German lyrics meet the free elements of jazz and create space for personal associations. Moving between dreamlike, picturesque and bizarre, unsettling sound worlds, Art Zentral succeeds in captivating a remarkably diverse audience.
PEGELIA GOLD, born in Jena in 1979, is a singer, composer and poet. Her art is shaped by the surreal sense of suspension of her youth in reunified Germany and draws on the distinctive language of the European avant-garde of the late 20th century.
She studied Religious Studies and Archaeology in Leipzig as well as Musicology in Weimar and completed her music degree at the University of Music Würzburg in 2009. Gold has released five studio albums, composed music for radio plays and film, and appears in Anatol Schuster’s film “Chaos und Stille”.
As a sidewoman, she has contributed to numerous other productions, including radio recordings with Peter Fulda, Art Zentral and the Polychrome Orchestra. With the project “Orpheus Has Just Left the Building” led by pianist and composer Peter Fulda, she was nominated for the German Record Critics’ Award (Preis der deutschen Schallplattenkritik).
Before beginning her stage career, Gold devoted herself intensively to sculpture and travelled throughout Europe as a street musician. Moving between musical worlds, she interprets works ranging from the Baroque to contemporary avant-garde music. Gold sees herself as a sonic alchemist, whose compositions fuse the broad spectrum of her musical experience and artistic exploration.
The debut album “Zeichenschleier” celebrated its 15th anniversary in 2025. The album has been remastered and is now available digitally for the first time on all major streaming platforms.
