Bruce Barth gehört zu den stilprägenden Jazzpianisten der vergangenen Jahrzehnte. Seit den späten 1980er Jahren ist er Teil der Jazzelite und hat mit den größten der Zunft gespielt. Nun können wir ihn endlich bei seiner ZigZag-Premiere begrüßen. Mit seinem neuen Programm präsentiert Barth Kompostionen, die Optimismus, Frieden und Einheit zum Ausdruck bringen sollen; insbesondere in den derzeitig doch turbulenten Zeiten bitter nötig. Mit mitreißendem, fröhlichem und lyrischem Jazz weiß das Bruce Barth Trio das Publikum auf eine musikalische Reise mitzunehmen, wie sie nur selten zu hören ist!

Bruce Barth zählt zu den profiliertesten Jazzpianisten der Gegenwart. Seit über 35 Jahren ist er fester Teil der Szene, wirkte bei über 135 Aufnahmen und Filmmusiken mit, arbeitete unter anderem am Berklee College und Queens College als Pianodozent und lieh den Größten der Szene sein geschmackvolles und intensives Pianospiel, darunter Terence Blanchard, Nat Adderley, Vincent Herring, Steve Wilson, Al Foster, Stanley Turrentine und vielen mehr.

Roz Macdonald ist eine Kontrabassistin aus Ayr, Schottland, der seit einigen Jahren in Berlin lebt. Sie ist bekannt für ihre Vielseitigkeit und tritt häufig in Deutschland und Europa auf und hat sich sowohl als Bandleaderin als auch als gefragte Begleitmusikerin einen Namen gemacht. Roz hat mit vielen namhaften internationalen Künstlern zusammen-gearbeitet, darunter Chris Cheek, Bruce Barth, Scott Hamilton, Tracye Eileen und viele mehr. 2022 veröffentlichte sie ihr Debütalbum 'Make Do' mit ihrem eigenen Trio in Berlin und aktuell komponiert sie und bereitet sich auf die Aufnahme eines zweiten Albums unter ihrem eigenen Namen vor. Roz ist im Jazz ebenso zu Hause Jazz ebenso zu Hause wie in der Klassik, Folk und Popmusik.

Stephen Keogh spielte in seiner irischen Heimat als Schlagzeuger mit dem National Symphony Orchestra und tourte ausgiebig mit dem großen irischen Gitarristen Louis Stewart, aber auch mit Jazz-Größen wie Eddie Lockjaw Davis, Jimmy Witherspoon, Pepper Adams, Teddy Edwards, Benny Carter und James Moody. In den späten 80er Jahren verließ er Irland, schloss sich dem Peter King Quartet an und hat seitdem lange mit Bill Charlap, Charles McPherson, Art Farmer und Eddie Henderson zusammengearbeitet. Er spielte mit Johnny Griffin, Lee Konitz, Harold Land, Brad Mehldau, Mark Turner, Jerry Bergonzi, Deborah Brown, Herb Ellis, Benny Golson, Ronnie Scott und Jason Rebello.

Bruce Barth is one of the most influential jazz pianists of the past few decades. Since the late 1980s, he has been part of the jazz elite, performing and recording with many of the genre’s greatest artists. Now, we are thrilled to welcome him for his long-overdue ZigZag debut. A highly acclaimed figure in contemporary jazz, Bruce Barth has been an integral part of the scene for over 35 years. He has appeared on more than 135 recordings and film scores, taught piano at Berklee College of Music and Queens College, and contributed his tasteful, expressive playing to leading jazz luminaries such as Terence Blanchard, Nat Adderley, Vincent Herring, Steve Wilson, Al Foster, Stanley Turrentine, and many more.

Roz Macdonald is a double bass player from Ayr, Scotland, who has been based in Berlin, Germany for a number of years. Known for her versatility, she frequently performs across Germany and throughout Europe, gaining recognition both as a band-leader and a sought after side-woman. Roz has collaborated with many notable international artists including Chris Cheek, Bruce Barth, Scott Hamilton, Tracye Eileen and many more. In 2022 she released her debut album 'Make Do' with her own trio in Berlin and has recently been composing and preparing to record a second album under her own name. Roz is equally at home with playing jazz as she is with classical, folk and pop music.

Stephen Keogh, while in his native Ireland, played as a percussionist with the National Symphony
Orchestra, and toured extensively with the great Irish guitarist Louis Stewart, as well as playing with visiting jazz greats including Eddie Lockjaw Davis, Jimmy Witherspoon, Pepper Adams, Teddy Edwards, Benny Carter and James Moody. He left Ireland in the late 80’s, joined the Peter King Quartet, and since then has had long lasting collaborations with Bill Charlap, Charles McPherson, Art Farmer and Eddie Henderson. He has performed with Johnny Griffin, Lee Konitz, Harold Land, Brad Mehldau, Mark Turner, Jerry Bergonzi, Deborah Brown, Herb Ellis, Benny Golson, Ronnie Scott and Jason Rebello.
