Nach einer ausverkauften Residenz in China – einschließlich der Einladung zu einer landesweiten Tour – präsentiert Denice Brooks mit ihrer Band ein Konzert voller echter, unverfälschter Soulmusik, das Sie so schnell nicht vergessen werden.

Denice Brooks ist eine der erstaunlichsten amerikanischen Sängerinnen, die derzeit in Europa leben. Ihre unglaubliche stimmliche Vielseitigkeit hat sie zu einer der meistbeschäftigten Künstlerinnen ihrer Zunft gemacht. Dass sie die einzige Sängerin ist, der Prince seinen Segen gab eine Coverversion von Purple Rain aufzunehmen spricht Bände. Sie tourte durch Deutschland, das restliche Europa, den nahen Osten und Südafrika, wo sie für Nelson Mandela sang. Sie brilliert als Musicalsängerin wie auch als Solokünstlerin auf der Bühne, im Studio und im Fernsehen. Sie arbeite mit Tina Turner, Roy Ayers, David Bowie, Nancy Wilson, Natalie Cole und vielen anderen zusammen.

Der Trompeter Donat Kubrinski, geboren und aufgewachsen in Berlin, lebt und spielt in vielen verschiedenen Projekten des Jazz, Afrogroove, Funk und Latin von Combo bis Big Band. Studierte bei Prof. Daniel Schenker an der Hochschule für Musik und Theater in Zürich sowie bei Prof. Gerard Presencer und Prof. Malte Burba an der Hochschule für Musik „Hanns Eisler“ Berlin. Neben seiner konzertanten Tätigkeit lehrt er an der Leo-Borchard-Musikschule und ist musikalischer Leiter der Bildrand-Big-Band-Berlin.

Johannes Schwarting ist mit seinen 20 Jahren schon erstaunlich breit in der Musiklandschaft verankert und bedient Genres von Jazz bis Funk und RnB. Der gebürtige Mainzer erhielt Meisterkurse und Workshops bei festen Größen der Musikszene wie Chris Potter, Bob Reynolds, John Riley und stand mit Musikern wie Wolfgang Haffner und Madness. Unter dem Namen Jts.sax veröffentlich Johannes mit Beatmakern außerdem Musik, die mittlerweile schon über eine Millionen Streams auf Spotify zählt. Seit 2022 ist Johannes Schwarting Student am renommierten Jazz Instituts Berlin.

Der Posaunist Humberto „Tito“ Lopez ist in Berlin geboren und aufgewachsen, wo er derzeit auch Jazzposaune am Jazzinstitut Berlin studiert. Im Alter von 10 Jahren begann er im Rahmen eines Schulprogramms mit dem Posaunenunterricht und trat schon bald der Big Band der Schule bei, wo er die Grundlagen des Jazz und der Improvisation erlernte. Heute liegt sein Schwerpunkt vor allem auf Jazz und improvisierter Musik, aber auch auf anderen Stilrichtungen wie Funk, Pop und Latin.

Leander Neidig ist einer der aufstrebenden jungen Jazzpianisten der Berliner Jazzszene. Seit 2020 studiert er an der UdK Berlin und konnte in den letzten Jahren immer mehr auf sich aufmerksam machen. In der Hauptstadt bespielte er die bekanntesten und geschätztesten Venues und ist Mitglied im Landesjugendjazzorchester Brandenburg, der BigBand der UdK Berlin und weiteren Top-Ensembles in der Nachwuchsförderung. Von diesem Pianisten werden Sie in Zukunft noch einiges zu hören bekommen!

Der Bassist Paul Polster studierte am Jazz-Institut Berlin (UdK/Hanns Eisler) sowie am Institut für Musik in Osnabrück.
Beeinflusst von Künstlern wie Prince, James Brown, Parliament-Funkadelic, MonoNeon und Marcus Miller schöpft er Inspiration aus Gospel, Soul und Funk.
Er ist ein aktiver Teil der Berliner und Hamburger Musikszene, tritt in Jazz-, Funk- und Pop-Projekten auf und entwickelt einen eigenen, groove-orientierten Zugang zu seinem Instrument.
Paul hat mit einer Vielzahl von Ensembles und Künstler:innen gearbeitet und stand auf Bühnen in ganz Europa. Sein Spiel bewegt sich fließend zwischen der Energie von Funkbands, der Freiheit der Jazz-Improvisation und der Eingängigkeit zeitgenössischer Pop-Produktionen.

Samuel Dietze ist in einer musikalischen Familie aufgewachsen. Bereits mit 4 Jahren bekam er seinen ersten Schlagzeugunterricht. Schnell war für ihn klar, dass Musik sein Leben bestimmen wird. Die Improvisation faszinierte ihn zunehmend und wurde immer mehr zur Basis seines Spiels. Seine Begeisterung für Jazz Stile jeglicher Art lag somit auf der Hand. Sein Weg führte ihn unausweichlich an die Hochschule „Carl Maria von Weber“ in Dresden, an der er seit 2021 das Hauptfach Schlagzeug (Studiengang Jazz/Rock/Pop) belegt.

Denice Brooks is one of the most amazing American singers currently living in Europe. Her incredible vocal versatility has made her one of the busiest artists in her profession. The fact that she is the only singer Prince gave his blessing to record a cover version of Purple Rain speaks volumes. She has toured Germany, the rest of Europe, the Middle East and South Africa, where she sang for Nelson Mandela. She shines as a musical singer as well as a solo artist on stage, in the studio and on television. Trumpeter Donat Kubrinski, born and raised in Berlin, lives and plays in many different Jazz, Afrogroove, Funk and Latin projects, from combo to big band. He studied with Prof. Daniel Schenker at the Hochschule für Musik und Theater in Zurich and with Prof. Gerard Presencer and Prof. Malte Burba at the Hochschule für Musik “Hanns Eisler” Berlin. In addition to his concert activities, he teaches at the Leo-Borchard-Music School and is musical director of the Bildrand-Big-Band-Berlin.

At just 20 years old, Johannes Schwarting is already remarkably well-established in the music scene, covering genres from jazz to funk and R&B. The trombone player Humberto „Tito“ Lopez was born and raised in Berlin where he is also currently studying jazz trombone at the Jazz Institute Berlin. He started trombone lessons at the age of 10 as part of a school program after which he quickly joined the school’s big band where he learned the basics about jazz and improvisation. Now his focus is primarily on jazz and improvised music but also other styles such as funk, pop and latin music.

Leander Neidig is one of the up-and-coming young jazz pianists on the Berlin jazz scene. He has been studying at the UdK Berlin since 2020 and has increasingly attracted attention in recent years. He has performed in the capital's best-known and most esteemed venues and is a member of the Brandenburg State Youth Jazz Orchestra, the UdK Berlin Big Band and other top ensembles promoting young talent. You will be hearing a lot more from this pianist in the future!

Bassist Paul Polster studied at the Jazz Institute Berlin (UdK/Hanns Eisler) and the Institute of Music in Osnabrück. Influenced by artists such as Prince, James Brown, Parliament-Funkadelic, MonoNeon, and Marcus Miller, he draws inspiration from gospel, soul, and funk. He is an active part of the Berlin and Hamburg music scenes, performing in jazz, funk, and pop projects and developing his own groove-oriented approach to the instrument. Paul has worked with a wide range of ensembles and artists, appearing on stages across Europe. His playing moves fluidly between the energy of funk bands, the freedom of jazz improvisation, and the accessibility of contemporary pop productions.

Samuel Dietze grew up in a musical family. He received his first drum lessons at the age of 4. It soon became clear to him that music would determine his life. Improvisation increasingly fascinated him and became the basis of his playing. His enthusiasm for jazz styles of all kinds was therefore obvious. His path inevitably led him to the "Carl Maria von Weber" University of Music in Dresden, where he has been majoring in percussion (jazz/rock/pop course) since 2021.
