Das von Vladimir Karparov und Asen Doykin geleitete Quartett Easter Passage steht seit 2017 für die gelungene Symbiose der besten Einflüsse aus dem Groove und der Harmonik des Modern Jazz mit der rhythmischen und emotionalen Vielfalt bulgarischer Folklore. 2024 nahm das top besetzte Quartett ihr lang ersehntes Debütalbum auf, welches im Mai erscheinen wird. Die so eigenständige wie expressive Musik von Vladimir Karparov zeichnet sich aus durch eine perfekte Fusion von zeitgenössischem Jazz und der rhythmischen und melodischen Farbigkeit der vitalen Volksmusik Bulgariens. Der vielseitig inspirierte Musiker und talentierte Komponist, der Genregrenzen mit Leichtigkeit überspringt, veröffentlichte sehr erfolgreiche eigene Alben wie „Thracian Dance“ (2007), Forkolor (2014), Antihypocrisyl (2016), Iglika (2022). Im Jahr 2020 erhielt er die Auszeichnung des bulgarischen Kulturministeriums für die weltweite Popularisierung der bulgarischen Kultur. Neben der Tätigkeit in eigenen Formationen wie dem V. Karparov Quartett, dem Balkan Spirit Ensemble, dem Forkolor Saxophon Quartet sowie dem Duo Stawinski & Karparov und der Karparty Brass Band, tritt er aktiv als Gastmusiker mit verschiedenen Formationen auf.

Asen Doykin ist seit zwanzig Jahren in der New Yorker Musikszene als Musiker, Komponist und Lehrer tätig. Er hat in einigen der bekanntesten Veranstaltungsorten und Jazzclubs der Stadt gespielt wie dem Lincoln Center for the Performing Arts, der Steinway Hall, dem Blue Note, dem Birdland oder dem Smalls. Neben seiner Tätigkeit als konzertierender Pianist hat Asen seine Expertise auch als Gastdozent am renommierten Berklee College of Music in Boston oder dem Königlichen Konservatorium Stockholm in Schweden unter Beweis stellte. Asen Doykin hat mit einigen der bedeutendsten zeitgenössischen Musiker der New Yorker Jazz-, Pop- und Weltmusikszene Aufnahmen gemacht und ist mit ihnen aufgetreten. Er hat mit Pino Paladino, Joe Locke, Keith Carlock, Bennie Maupin, Tim Lefebvre, Ada Rovatti, Jacques Schwarz-Bart, Francisco Mela, Eli Degibri, Myron Walden, Rodney Green, Kendrick Scott, Vincent Ector, Theodosii Spassov und vielen anderen gearbeitet.

Igor Spallati - geboren 1985 in Italien, begann er mit 19 Jahren Kontrabass zu spielen und studierte in Italien klassischen Kontrabass bei Silvio Bruni und Franco Petracchi. 2010 zog er nach Berlin, um am „Jazz Institut Berlin“ unter der Leitung von Greg Cohen, John Hollenbeck, Kurt Rosenwinkel und anderen zu studieren. Unter anderem hat er mit Ikonen des Jazz wie Joe Chambers, Billy Hart, Nasheet Waits, Jorge Rossy, Fred Hersch, Ethan Iverson, Ambrose Akinmusire, Lewis Nash, Elias Stemeseder, Jay Anderson, Ronnie Burrage, Pietro Tonolo, Gabriele Mirabassi, Dado Moroni, Joe Hisaishi, Louis Bacalov und der HR BigBand gearbeitet.

Der in Budapest aufgewachsene Peter Somos begann seine professionelle Schlagzeugerkarriere mit 14 Jahren und schloss sein Studium an der Codarts University of Music in Rotterdam mit summa cum laude ab. Im Laufe seiner Karriere hat er mit Künstlern wie Casey Benjamin, Mahesh Vinayakram, Nadishana, Paquito D'Riviera, Besh o droM, Krzysztof Scieranski, um nur einige zu nennen, aufgenommen bzw. ist mit ihnen aufgetreten. Er hat auch auf Festivals wie Sziget (HU), Exit (SR), WOMADelaide (AUS), Meskie Granie, Jamboree, Opener' (PL), Sudtirol Jazz (IT), JodhpurRIFF, Kolkata Jazz (IN), Shanghai World Music (CN), oder dem Jeju World Music (KR) gespielt. Er ist ein erfahrener Studiomusiker, der bei mehreren Aufnahmen in vielen Stilrichtungen (von Jazz über Pop-Rock bis Metal) mitgewirkt hat.

The quartet Easter Passage, led by Vladimir Karparov and Asen Doykin, has stood since 2017 for a successful symbiosis of the finest influences from the groove and harmonic language of modern jazz with the rhythmic and emotional diversity of Bulgarian folklore. In 2024, the highly accomplished quartet recorded their long-awaited debut album, which will be released in May. On 23/05, the audience will have the opportunity to hear selections from the album as well as brand-new material from the quartet. Vladimir Karparov's music, as independent as it is expressive, is characterized by a perfect fusion of contemporary jazz and the rhythmic and melodic color of the vital folk music of Bulgaria. The versatile inspired musician and talented composer, who crosses genre boundaries with ease, released very successful albums of his own such as "Thracian Dance" (2007), Forkolor (2014), Antihypocrisyl (2016), Iglika (2022). In 2020 he received the award of the Bulgarian Ministry of Culture for popularizing Bulgarian culture worldwide. In addition to playing in his own formations such as the V. Karparov Quartet, Balkan Spirit Ensemble, Forkolor Saxophone Quartet, as well as Duo Stawinski & Karparov and Karparty Brass Band, he actively performs as a guest musician with various formations.

Asen Doykin has been active in the New York music scene for twenty years as a musician, composer and teacher. He has performed at some of the city's most prominent venues and jazz clubs including Lincoln Center for the Performing Arts, Steinway Hall, the Blue Note, Birdland, and Smalls. In addition to being a concertizing pianist, Asen has also demonstrated his expertise as a guest lecturer at the prestigious Berklee College of Music in Boston or the Royal Stockholm Conservatory in Sweden. His students have been accepted at some of the most prestigious academic institutions such as Harvard University, Columbia University, Berklee College of Music and the Julliard School. Asen Doykin has recorded and performed with some of the most prominent contemporary musicians on the New York jazz, pop and world music scene.
