Get ready for church! Mit Ingrid Arthur & The Gospel Voices of America kommt am 1. November die ganze Kraft der amerikanischen Gospeltradition auf die Bühne. Unterstützt von einem großen Vocal-Ensemble (u. A. mit Keith Tynes!") und kompletter Band präsentiert Arthur ein Programm, das von Klassikern wie „Oh Happy Day“ bis zu Soul und Spirituals reicht.
Die in Gainesville, Georgia, geborene Ingrid Arthur wuchs mit der amerikanischen Gospeltradition auf und arbeitete im Laufe ihrer Karriere mit einigen der bedeutendsten Stimmen des Genres, darunter Cissy Houston, Tramaine Hawkins, Shirley Caesar und Dorothy Norwood. Mehrere Jahre tourte sie mit den Golden Gospel Singers, bevor sie später als Mitglied der Weather Girls internationale Bekanntheit erlangte. Seit 2002 lebt Arthur in Berlin, wo sie 2007 auch den 100% Gospel Workshop gründete.
Mit den Gospel Voices of America stellt Arthur nun die Musik ihrer eigenen musikalischen Wurzeln ins Zentrum. Mehrstimmiger Gesang, eine große Band und die direkte Verbindung zwischen Bühne und Publikum bestimmen einen Abend, bei dem gemeinsames Singen, Klatschen und Aufstehen ausdrücklich erwünscht ist.
Get ready for church! On November 1, Ingrid Arthur & The Gospel Voices of America bring the full power of the American Gospel tradition to the stage. Backed by a large vocal ensemble (a.o. with Keith Tynes!") and a full band, Arthur presents a programme ranging from classics such as “Oh Happy Day” to soul and spirituals.
Born in Gainesville, Georgia, Ingrid Arthur grew up with the American Gospel tradition and has worked with some of the genre’s most important voices, including Cissy Houston, Tramaine Hawkins, Shirley Caesar and Dorothy Norwood. She toured for several years with the Golden Gospel Singers before later gaining international recognition as a member of the Weather Girls. Based in Berlin since 2002, Arthur also founded the 100% Gospel Workshop there in 2007.
With the Gospel Voices of America, Arthur puts the music of her own musical roots at the centre of the evening. Powerful ensemble vocals, a full band and the direct connection between stage and audience define a concert where singing along, clapping and getting on your feet are very much encouraged.
