Morgan James ist eine an der renommierten Juilliard School ausgebildete Sängerin, Songwriterin, Schauspielerin und Recording Artist aus New York City.
Derzeit tourt Morgan mit ihrem sechsten Studioalbum „Soul Remains the Same“. Das Konzeptalbum interpretiert Hard-Rock-Klassiker der 1980er- und 1990er-Jahre aus einer weiblichen Soul-Perspektive neu.
Zuvor veröffentlichte sie in Eigenregie ihre Soul-Alben „Nobody’s Fool“, „Memphis Magnetic“ und „A Very Magnetic Christmas“, die allesamt analog auf Tonband in Memphis, Tennessee, aufgenommen wurden. Zu ihren weiteren Veröffentlichungen zählt „Reckless Abandon“, das der Huffington Post die Auszeichnung als „Brightest Breakout Artist of the Year“ einbrachte.
Neben ihrer eigenen Musik produzierte Morgan gemeinsam mit anderen Künstlerinnen eine rein weiblich besetzte Konzeptaufnahme des Rockmusicals „Jesus Christ Superstar“, in der sie zugleich die Hauptrolle übernahm. Darüber hinaus veröffentlichte sie komplette Neuinterpretationen ikonischer Alben wie dem „White Album“ der Beatles, Joni Mitchells Blue, Jeff Buckleys Grace und weiterer Klassiker.
Bei Epic Records erschienen zwei vollständige Alben: „Hunter“ sowie „Morgan James Live – A Celebration of Nina Simone“. Ihre gesamte Musik ist auf allen gängigen Streaming-Plattformen verfügbar; physische Tonträger sind über ihre Website oder bei ihren Konzerten erhältlich.
Am Broadway gehörte Morgan James ohne Unterbrechung den Originalbesetzungen von fünf Produktionen an: The Addams Family (mit Nathan Lane und Bebe Neuwirth), Wonderland, Godspell, Motown: The Musical sowie als Gast in Kristin Chenoweths Show For the Girls.

Morgan is currently on tour supporting her sixth studio album, “Soul Remains the Same”, a concept album that reimagines heavy rock songs from the 1980s and 1990s through a feminine soul lens.
She independently released her original soul albums “Nobody’s Fool”, “Memphis Magnetic”, and “A Very Magnetic Christmas”, all recorded to analog tape in Memphis, Tennessee. Other releases include “Reckless Abandon”, which prompted the Huffington Post to call Morgan James the “Brightest Breakout Artist of the Year.”
In addition to her original music, Morgan co-produced and starred in an all-female concept recording of “Jesus Christ Superstar.” She has also recorded full-album interpretations of iconic works including The Beatles’ “White Album”, Joni Mitchell’s “Blue”, Jeff Buckley’s “Grace”, and many more.
Morgan also recorded two full-length albums with Epic Records: “Hunter” and “Morgan James Live: A Celebration of Nina Simone.” Her complete catalog is available on all major streaming platforms, while physical copies can be purchased through her website or at live performances.
On Broadway, Morgan appeared in five consecutive original casts: The Addams Family (starring Nathan Lane and Bebe Neuwirth), Wonderland, Godspell, Motown: The Musical, and as a guest in Kristin Chenoweth’s For the Girls.
