Der Zig Zag-Jazzclub ist stolz darauf unsere Konzertreihe in Zusammenarbeit mit dem Jazz-Institut Berlin (JIB) fortzuführen, die musikalischen Talenten der internationalen Szene eine Bühne bieten wird. Das Jazz-Institut Berlin gilt deutschlandweit wie auch international als eine der renommiertesten Ausbildungsstätten für Jazz und zieht viele Talente aus der ganzen Welt an. ABACUS ist ein zeitgenössisches Jazzquartett, das sich im Spannungsfeld zwischen Struktur und freier Form bewegt. Inspiriert von der poetischen Offenheit eines Paul Motian und der verspielten, architektonischen Klangsprache einer Carla Bley entwickelt die Band eine eigene musikalische Erzählweise, die gleichermaßen reduziert wie vielschichtig ist.
Im Zentrum steht das Spiel mit Balance: Komposition und Improvisation greifen ineinander, klare Linien lösen sich in offene Klangräume auf, rhythmische Gewissheiten werden hinterfragt und neu definiert.
Mit Tobias Bech, David Weissglas, Tino Ribeiro und Finn Seemann vereint ABACUS vier Musiker, die durch ein sensibles, interaktives Zusammenspiel überzeugen. Ihre Musik lebt von feinen Dynamiken, klanglicher Tiefe und der Bereitschaft, im Moment neue Wege zu gehen.

Irma Neumüller ist eine schwedische Jazzsängerin und Komponistin, die sowohl auf Schwedisch als auch auf Englisch Musik schreibt, in der sie dem traditionellen Jazzsound mit ihrer persönlichen Note neues Leben einhaucht. Die Musik ist schwungvoll, erhebend und manchmal emotional. Mit ihrer starken Bühnenpräsenz heißt Irma das gesamte Publikum in ihrer musikalischen Welt willkommen.
Irma Neumüller wurde 2001 in Stockholm geboren und begann ihre musikalische Reise mit der klassischen Musik, als sie im Alter von vier Jahren begann Cello zu spielen. Nach zwölf Jahren als Cellistin öffnete sie ihre Augen auch für den Jazz und seine Gesangstradition. Irma studierte Jazzgesang an der Södra Latin High School in Stockholm und zwei Jahre am landesweit renommierten Skurup Pre-College, bevor sie nach Berlin zog, wo sie derzeit am Jazz Institut Berlin studiert. 
In den letzten Jahren war Irma Neumüller auf Bühnen in ganz Schweden und Deutschland erfolgreich. Sie wurde von der schwedischen Organisation für darstellende Künste „Scenkonst Sörmland“ zur „Jungen schwedischen Solistin 2023“ ernannt, erhielt mehrere Stipendien und wird regelmäßig von Jazzkritikern gelobt. Ihr Debütalbum „Introducing Irma Neumüller“ erschien am 23. Februar 2024 bei dem bekannten und renommierten schwedischen Label Naxos/Prophone. Im Herbst 2025 veröffentlichte sie auf dem gleichnamigen Label ihr Duo Album ”Come Give Me Love" mit dem schwedischen E-Bassisten Seth Sjöström.

ABACUS is a contemporary jazz quartet operating in the space between structure and free form. Inspired by the poetic openness of Paul Motian and the playful, architectural sound language of Carla Bley, the band develops its own musical narrative—at once minimalist and richly layered.

At the heart of the music lies a fascination with balance: composition and improvisation intertwine, clear lines dissolve into open sonic landscapes, and rhythmic certainties are questioned and redefined. With Tobias Bech, David Weissglas, Tino Ribeiro, and Finn Seemann, ABACUS brings together four musicians whose sensitive and highly interactive interplay defines the ensemble. Their music thrives on subtle dynamics, sonic depth, and a willingness to discover new paths in the moment.

Irma Neumüller is a Swedish jazz singer and composer who writes music in both Swedish and English, breathing new life into the traditional jazz sound through her deeply personal artistic voice. Her music is vibrant, uplifting, and at times deeply emotional. With her strong stage presence, Irma warmly invites audiences into her musical world. Born in Stockholm in 2001, Irma Neumüller began her musical journey in classical music, starting cello lessons at the age of four. After twelve years as a cellist, she discovered jazz and its vocal tradition. She studied jazz vocals at the Södra Latin Gymnasium in Stockholm and later spent two years at the nationally renowned Skurups Folkhögskola before moving to Berlin, where she is currently studying at the Jazz-Institut Berlin. In recent years, Irma Neumüller has performed successfully on stages throughout Sweden and Germany. She was named “Young Swedish Soloist 2023” by the Swedish performing arts organization Scenkonst Sörmland, has received multiple scholarships, and is regularly praised by jazz critics. Her debut album Introducing Irma Neumüller was released on February 23, 2024, by the renowned Swedish label Naxos Prophone. In autumn 2025, she released the duo album Come Give Me Love on the same label together with Swedish electric bassist Seth Sjöström.
