Der Zig Zag-Jazzclub ist stolz darauf unsere Konzertreihe in Zusammenarbeit mit dem Jazz-Institut Berlin (JIB) fortzuführen, die musikalischen Talenten der internationalen Szene eine Bühne bieten wird. Das Jazz-Institut Berlin gilt deutschlandweit wie auch international als eine der renommiertesten Ausbildungsstätten für Jazz und zieht viele Talente aus der ganzen Welt an. Das L.A.B Trio ist ein preisgekröntes internationales Jazz-Fusion-Trio mit Sitz in Berlin. Gegründet im Oktober 2024 am Jazz-Institut Berlin, vereinen Leela, Alexandre und Barnabás ihre vielfältigen musikalischen Welten zu einem energiegeladenen und originellen Sound.
In ihren Eigenkompositionen und eigenen Arrangements verbinden sie groovige und Fusion-Elemente mit der Tradition des Jazz, traumhaften Klanglandschaften sowie klassischen Einflüssen.
Improvisation bildet das Herzstück ihrer Musik – sowohl in solistischen Momenten als auch im kollektiven Zusammenspiel.
Das Trio spielte bereits in renommierten Venues wie dem Donau115, dem A-Trane sowie am Jazz Institute Berlin. Beim Getxo Jazz Festival 2025 in Bilbao wurde das Ensemble mit dem Preis „Best Newcomer Ensemble“ ausgezeichnet.
Das L.A.B Trio versteht sich nicht nur als musikalisches Projekt, sondern auch als Plattform für queere Sichtbarkeit im Jazz. Ihre Bühnenpräsenz und Performances drücken eine künstlerische Identität aus, die Vielfalt feiert und bestehende Normen hinterfragt.
Das neue Projekt „Gengar“ des Kontrabassisten und Komponisten Tino Ribeiro bringt die musikalischen Ergebnisse der vergangenen Jahre zusammen und entwickelt diese konsequent weiter. Variable Besetzungen vom Duo bis zum Quintett ermöglichen es, flexible Klangräume zu schaffen. Mittels Werkzeugen wie Umstrukturierung und der Stilisierung traditioneller Formeln entstehen daraus neue musikalische Resultate.
Inspiriert von wegweisenden Vorbildern wie Sun Ra und Anthony Braxton richtet das Projekt den Blick auf die mythischen Dimensionen von Klang und Musik aus der Perspektive afrofuturistischer Ästhetik.

L.A.B Trio is an award-winning international jazz fusion trio based in Berlin. Founded in October 2024 at the Jazz Institute Berlin, Leela, Alexandre, and Barnabás combine their diverse musical worlds into an energetic and original sound.
In their original compositions and arrangements, they combine groovy and fusion elements with the tradition of jazz, dreamy soundscapes, and classical influences.

L.A.B Trio sees itself not only as a musical project, but also as a platform for queer visibility in jazz. Their stage presence and performances express an artistic identity that celebrates diversity and challenges existing norms.
The new project “Gengar” by double bassist and composer Tino Ribeiro brings together the musical results of the past years and aims to further develop them. Variable line-ups ranging from duo to quintet make it possible to create flexible sonic spaces. Using tools such as restructuring and the stylization of traditional formulas, new musical results emerge from these spaces.
Inspired by pioneering figures such as Sun Ra and Anthony Braxton, the project seeks to explore the mythical dimensions of sound and music from the perspective of Afrofuturist aesthetics.
