Nach Performances mit Kenny Barron und Kris Davis ist er diesmal als Leader seiner Band PENTAD in Berlin, um sein im August bei Blue Note Records erschienenes Album My Life Matters vorzustellen; eine Suite, welche die Idee des Aufstehens gegen Ungerechtigkeit musikalisch verarbeitet. Johnathan Blake ist ein US-amerikanischer Jazz-Schlagzeuger und Komponist. Er hat mit vielen Jazzgrößen zusammengearbeitet, darunter Tom Harrell, Kenny Barron, David Sánchez, Don Byron, Oliver Lake, Randy Brecker, und viele weitere. Blake ist auch bekannt für seine Arbeit als Mitglied im Omer Avital Quintett und im Ravi Coltrane Quartet. In seinen eigenen Projekten hat Blake eine Reihe von hochkarätigen Musikern wie Chris Potter, Mark Turner, Avishai Cohen und Ben Street zusammengebracht. Sein Spiel ist von Energie und Kreativität geprägt, und er wird von Kritikern und Publikum gleichermaßen hoch geschätzt.

John Ellis gilt als eine der herausragenden Stimmen am Tenorsaxophon. Der New Yorker erreichte den 2. Platz der renommierten Thelonious Monk Competition und hat auf über 100 Alben als Sideman mit Künstlern wie Sting, Dr. Lonnie Smith, Charlie Hunter, Robert Glasper u. a. zusammen gearbeitet.

Fabian Almazan ist ein kubanisch-amerikanischer Jazzpianist, Komponist und Filmkomponist, der nicht nur durch seine Virtuosität, sondern auch durch seine stilistische und thematische Tiefe herausragt. Er studierte unter Kenny Barron und Jason Moran. seit 2007 ist er der Pianist in der Band von Terrence Blanchard. Almazan betreibt das Label Biophilia Records, das Musik mit Umweltbewusstsein verbindet. Seine Musik verbindet Eleganz, lyrische Tiefe und orchestrale Weite – mal intim, mal polemisch, stets nuancenreich.

Jalen Baker ist ein US-amerikanischer Vibraphonist. Er erwarb 2017 seinen Bachelor an der Columbia College Chicago und 2019 den Master in Jazzstudien an der Florida State University. Seine beiden Alben „This Is Me, This Is Us“ (2021) und „Be Still“ (2023) erhielten breite Anerkennung in Fachpublikationen wie Jazziz und Downbeat. Als Sideman und Bandleader arbeitet er mit Ulysses Owens Jr., Jeremy Pelt, Leon Anderson u. v. a. und tritt regelmäßigweltweit auf. Baker verbindet meisterhafte Technik mit emotionaler Tiefe – seine Performance ist geistreich, leidenschaftlich und stets inspirierend.

Ben Street ist seit den 1990er Jahren eine feste Größe in der Welt des Jazzkontrabasses. Er lernte bei Miroslav Vitous und Dave Holland bevor er nach New York ging, wo er in allen Subgenres des Jazz ein gefragter Mitspieler ist. Er arbeitete mit Lee Konitz, Sam Rivers, Ben Monder, Joey Calderazzo, Cindy Lauper, weiterhin ist er zusammen mit Mark Turner und Ethan Iverson Mitglied im Billy Hart Quartet. Er ist auf mehr als 100 Tonträgern zu hören und ist Sieger des Down Beat Critics Poll 2020.

He can be heard on more than 100 recordings and is the winner of the Down Beat Critics Poll 2020.
