Die international gefeierte Jazzsängerin, Texterin und Pädagogin Judy Niemack hat mit Künstlern wie Kenny Barron, Sullivan Fortner, Lee Konitz, Cedar Walton und Kenny Werner aufgenommen und konzertiert. Geboren in Pasadena, Kalifornien, zog sie 1977 nach New York, um Jazzsängerin zu werden – mit Erfolg. Nach mehrjährigem Improvisationsstudium beim legendären Saxophonisten Warne Marsh feierte sie 1978 ihr Debüt in der New Yorker Jazzszene im berühmten Village Vanguard. Es folgten zahlreiche Aufnahmen und Auftritte in NYC und weltweit. Als Pionierin der Vokal-Jazzpädagogik wurde sie 1995 zur ersten Professorin für Vocal Jazz in Deutschland ernannt und lehrt seither am Jazz-Institut Berlin, während sie weiterhin international konzertiert. Ihr aktuellstes und 16. Album, „What’s Love?“ (Sunnyside), mit Sullivan Fortner am Klavier und Peter Bernstein an der Gitarre, wurde von der Presse gefeiert:

Johannes von Ballestrem, geboren 1990 in Bonn, ist ein Pianist, der mit stilistischer Diversität und vielfältigen Aktivitäten beeindruckt. Er studierte u.a. bei Michael Wollny und ist als gern gesehener Sideman bereits auf der ganzen Welt aufgetreten. In New Orleans beschäftigte er sich intensiv mit den frühen Spielarten des Jazz, durch die Zusammenarbeit mit Mariana Zwarg entdeckte er die Liebe zur Musik Brasiliens. Er spielte bereits mit Musikern wie Kurt Rosenwinkel, Nils Landgren und Norma Winstone, seine Zusammenarbeit mit dem Geiger Daniel Hope brachte ihn als Solisten in Konzertsäle wie die Tonhalle Zürich, das Konzerthaus Berlin und die Elbphilharmonie.

Olaf Casimir, geboren 1969, begann mit 11 Jahren, Kontrabass zu spielen. Er brach mit 16 die Schule ab und arbeitet seitdem als Musiker. Nach einem Aufenthalt von 1989 bis 90 in New York City, kehrte er nach Deutschland zurück und spielte mit verschiedenen Jazzformationen. In seiner Laufbahn spielte er bisher den Bass auf mehr als 100 Alben verschiedener Genres ein. Er spielte mit Mark Murphy, Lionel Hampton, Idris Muhammad, Dee Dee Bridgewater, Till Brönner, Nils Landgren und vielen mehr.

Ugo Alunni ist ein Schlagzeuger aus Perugia, Italien. Er besuchte das Conservatorio di Musica "Francesco Morlacchi" di Perugia (2000-2004) und zog danach nach New York, um an der Collective School of Music (2005-2006) weiter zu studieren. Seit 2010 lebt er in Berlin, wo er am Jazz Institut Berlin unter der Leitung von John Hollenbeck, Kurt Rosenwinkel, Greg Cohen und David Friedman studierte und 2016 seinen Abschluss machte. Er hat mit Rossano Emili, Perugia Jazz Orchestra, Pietro Tonolo, Joe Chambers, Dan Kinzelman, Alessandro Lanzoni, Elias Stemeseder, Phil Donkin, Uli Kempendorff, Julia Hülsmann und vielen anderen gespielt.

Internationally celebrated jazz singer, lyricist, and educator Judy Niemack has recorded and performed with artists such as Kenny Barron, Sullivan Fortner, Lee Konitz, Cedar Walton, and Kenny Werner. Born in Pasadena, California, she moved to New York in 1977 to pursue a career in jazz singing — and succeeded. After studying improvisation for several years with the legendary saxophonist Warne Marsh, she made her debut on the New York jazz scene in 1978 at the famed Village Vanguard. Numerous recordings and performances in NYC and around the world followed. A pioneer of vocal jazz education, she was appointed Germany’s first professor for vocal jazz in 1995 and has been teaching at the Jazz Institute Berlin ever since, while continuing to perform internationally.
