Soul-Jazz, Funk und Hip-Hop treffen auf die Tradition des klassischen Jazz-Pianotrios! Mit seinem Supersonic Trio präsentiert der New Yorker Pianist Lawrence Fields eine groove-orientierte Formation, in der Fender Rhodes, E-Bass und Schlagzeug ebenso selbstverständlich zusammenfinden wie komplexe Jazzharmonik und die rhythmische Energie von R&B und Hip-Hop. Inspiriert von Musikern wie Herbie Hancock, George Duke und Ramsey Lewis verbindet Fields die Klänge seiner musikalischen Jugend mit seinem Hintergrund als Jazzpianist.
Lawrence Fields stammt aus St. Louis und gehört seit Jahren zu den aufstrebenden Pianisten der amerikanischen Jazzszene. Als Mitglied des Quintetts Sound Prints von Joe Lovano und Dave Douglas sowie der Band von Chief Adjuah (Christian Scott) machte er international auf sich aufmerksam. Darüber hinaus arbeitete er unter anderem mit Branford Marsalis, Nicholas Payton und Nate Smith. Sein 2024 veröffentlichtes Debütalbum „To The Surface“ wurde vom Magazin DownBeat mit vier Sternen ausgezeichnet. Mit dem Supersonic Trio erweitert Fields seinen bislang vorwiegend akustischen Ansatz um elektrische Klangfarben und Einflüsse aus Soul, Funk und Hip-Hop.
Kyle Miles ist ein aus Boston stammender E- und Kontrabassist, der heute in Brooklyn lebt. Er arbeitete unter anderem mit Meshell Ndegeocello, Chris Dave, Takuya Kuroda und José James. Sein Spiel verbindet präzise Basslinien mit einem vielseitigen Umgang mit Klang und Harmonik.
Elé Howell stammt aus San Francisco und etablierte sich nach seinem Umzug nach New York als gefragter Schlagzeuger. Zu seinen musikalischen Partnern zählen Ravi Coltrane, Chief Adjuah, Brandee Younger und Stanley Clarke.
Soul-jazz, funk and hip-hop meet the tradition of the classic jazz piano trio! With his Supersonic Trio, New York-based pianist Lawrence Fields presents a groove-driven ensemble in which Fender Rhodes, electric bass and drums bring together sophisticated jazz harmony with the rhythmic energy of R&B and hip-hop. Drawing inspiration from musicians such as Herbie Hancock, George Duke and Ramsey Lewis, Fields combines the sounds of his musical upbringing with his background as a jazz pianist.
Lawrence Fields, originally from St. Louis, has established himself as one of the rising pianists on the American jazz scene. He gained international recognition as a member of Joe Lovano and Dave Douglas' quintet Sound Prints and Chief Adjuah's (Christian Scott) band. His collaborations also include Branford Marsalis, Nicholas Payton and Nate Smith. His 2024 debut album “To The Surface” received a four-star review from DownBeat magazine. With the Supersonic Trio, Fields expands his predominantly acoustic approach to embrace electric textures and influences from soul, funk and hip-hop.
