Dies ist bei weitem keine Übertreibung, eher im Gegenteil. Der New Yorker Stargitarrist Mike Moreno beehrt den ZigZag-Jazzclub! Mit im Gepäck hat er sein jüngst erschienenes Album Standards from Film, ein Tribut an die Filme, Schauspieler und die Kultur der goldenen Ära Hollywoods, die uns die vielen Melodien beschert hat, die über Jahrzehnte hinweg bis heute das Repertoire für Jazz- und PopkünstlerInnen prägten und prägen. Standards from Film ist im Oktober 2022 auf dem bedeutenden Label Criss Cross Records erschienen; ein echtes Gütesiegel für Bop-Musik allerhöchster Qualität. Unterstützt wird der Virtuose von einer New Yorker All-Star-Band, die es in sich hat.

Mike Moreno ist eine der kreativsten und wegweisendsten Stimmen der modernen Jazzgitarre. Er stammt aus Houston, Texas und besuchte die High School for the Performing and Visual Arts, die schon viele bedeutende KünstlerInnen hervorbrachte. Nach seinem Studium zog er nach New York, um dort zu studieren und die hiesige Szene zu erleben. Schon bald er mit den besten und angesagtesten Spielerinnen und Spielern der Stadt. Inzwischen umfasst sein Werk die Beteiligung an mehreren Grammy-Nominierten Alben sowie Kollaborationen mit Joshua Redman, Robert Glasper, Kendrick Scott, Ambrose Akinmusire, Gretchen Parlato, Lizz Wright, Wynton Marsalis, Jeff Tain Watts und vielen mehr.

Marko Churnchetz (slowenische Schreibweise Črnčec) ist einer der bekanntesten zeitgenössischen Musiker und renommierten Exporteure Sloweniens und lebt in New York City. In der internationalen Szene ist er als hervorragender junger Multiinstrumentalist, Komponist, Arrangeur und Produzent bekannt, der problemlos genreübergreifend arbeitet, insbesondere in den Bereichen Jazz, Klassik und Popmusik. Churnchetz hat bereits fünf Alben als Leader veröffentlicht. Sein drittes, von der Kritik hoch gelobtes Album Devotion (Whirlwind Recordings, 2014) mit Mark Shim (Saxophon), Chris Tordini (Kontrabass) und Justin Brown (Schlagzeug) wurde von "All About Jazz" unter die 20 besten Jazz-Veröffentlichungen des Jahres 2014 gewählt.

Orlando le Fleming gehört zu den besten und versiertesten Bassisten des zeitgenössischen Jazz. Kurz nach seiner Ankunft in den USA schloss sich der Brite der Band von Jane Monheit an und teilte sich den Bass auf ihrem 2004 erschienenen Album Taking a Chance on Love mit Ron Carter und Christian McBride; im Jahr darauf nahm er mit der Jazzlegende Jimmy Cobb auf dessen Marsalis Music Honors Album auf. In den darauffolgenden Jahren haben sich so unterschiedliche Musiker wie Branford Marsalis, Joey Calderazzo, Kurt Rosenwinkel, Bill Charlap, Billy Cobham, Seamus Blake, Jeff "Tain" Watts und David Sanchez auf Le Flemings festen Beat und seinen eloquenten Kontrapunkt verlassen, um ihre Rhythmusgruppen voranzutreiben.

Der in Neapel geborene, in New York ausgebildete und in Paris lebende Schlagzeuger Francesco Ciniglio kombiniert makelloses Schlagzeug-Können mit beachtlichem kompositorischen Flair und hat die Fähigkeit, durch seine Musik zu bewegen, zu reflektieren und sich auszudrücken. Als gefragter Sideman hat Ciniglio mit Wynton Marsalis, Shai Maestro, Aaron Parks, Dayna Stephens, Seamus Blake und Tony Tixier zusammengearbeitet. Seit seinem Umzug nach Paris erobert er die dortige Szene im Sturm.

Orlando le Fleming is one of the best and most accomplished bassists in contemporary jazz. Shortly after arriving in the U.S., the Brit joined Jane Monheit's band and shared bass on her 2004 album Taking a Chance on Love with Ron Carter and Christian McBride; the following year he recorded with jazz legend Jimmy Cobb on his Marsalis Music Honors album. Naples-born, New York-trained, Paris-based drummer Francesco Ciniglio combines impeccable drumming skills with considerable compositional flair, and has the ability to move, reflect, and express himself through his music. A sought-after sideman, Ciniglio has collaborated with Wynton Marsalis, Shai Maestro, Aaron Parks, Dayna Stephens, Seamus Blake and Tony Tixier. Since moving to Paris, he has been taking the scene there by storm.
