Am Vorabend des zweiten Advents lädt die rumänische Sängerin Oana Cătălina Chițu gemeinsam mit Vladimir Karparov, Dejan Jovanović und Gregor Jovanović zu einem festlichen Konzert voller Atmosphäre, Tiefe und Poesie ein. Das Programm vereint Weihnachts- und Winterlieder aus Rumänien mit Melodien und Liedern aus dem Balkanraum – Musik, die von alten Traditionen inspiriert ist und zugleich offen für neue Klänge und improvisatorische Freiheit bleibt. Zwischen folkloristischer Seele und experimenteller Klangsprache entsteht ein besonderer musikalischer Raum – verwurzelt in der Tradition, doch mit einem Hauch von Jazz und der Magie des Augenblicks.

Oana Cǎtǎlina Chiţu stammt aus Humulești in Nordrumänien und kam in den neunziger Jahren nach Berlin. Ihr Repertoire umfasst Tangomusik aus dem Bukarest der 1930er Jahre sowie Lieder der Roma und aus verschiedenen Balkankulturen. So authentisch und trotzdem frei näherte sich bisher keine Sängerin der jüngeren Generation den Tangos á la Romanesque. Einem größeren Publikum ist Oana Cǎtǎlina Chiţu europaweit bekannt geworden durch ihre einfühlsame Interpretation des Repertoires der rumänischen Volkssängerin Maria Tănase. Das dazugehörende Album „Divine“ und die Vorgänger-CD „Bucharest Tango“ sind beim Berliner Label Asphalt Tango Records erschienen.

Dejan Jovanović kam 1999 nach Berlin, nachdem er in Serbien zahlreiche Akkordeonwettbewerbe gewonnen hatte um klassisches Akkordeon an der Musikhochschule Hanns Eisler zu studieren. Sein meisterliches Akkordeonspiel ist europaweit geschätzt und gefragt; in den Jahren 2021 und 2022 wurde er durch Musikfond, GVL und den deutschen Musikrat mit Stipendien geehrt. Dejan allerdings nicht nur ein begnadeter Akkordeonist, sondern komponiert ebenso für Akkordeon wie auch für Sinfonieorchester. Einige seiner Kompositionen wurden in Serbien beim Neujahrskonzert im Januar 2020 mit dem RTS Symphony Orchestra aufgeführt. 2022 war Dejan außerdem mit dem Symphonieorchester „Virtuouzi“ in Serbien auf Tournee.

On the eve of the second Advent, Romanian singer Oana Cătălina Chițu invites you — together with Vladimir Karparov, Dejan Jovanović and Gregor Jovanović — to a festive concert full of atmosphere, depth, and poetry. The program brings together Christmas and winter songs from Romania with melodies and tunes from the Balkan region— music inspired by ancient traditions, yet open to new sounds and improvisational freedom. Between folkloric soul and experimental sound language, a unique musical space unfolds — rooted in tradition, yet touched by jazz and the magic of the moment.

Oana Cǎtǎlina Chiţu was born in Humulești in northern Romania and moved to Berlin in the 1990s. Her repertoire includes tango music from 1930s Bucharest as well as songs of the Roma and various Balkan cultures. No singer of the younger generation has approached the Romanesque tango tradition in such an authentic yet free manner. Oana Cǎtǎlina Chiţu has become known across Europe especially for her heartfelt interpretations of the repertoire of legendary Romanian folk singer Maria Tănase. The albums Divine and its predecessor Bucharest Tango were released on the Berlin label Asphalt Tango Records.

Dejan Jovanović arrived in Berlin in 1999, after winning numerous accordion competitions in Serbia, to study classical accordion at the Hanns Eisler School of Music. His masterful playing is admired throughout Europe; in 2021 and 2022 he was awarded scholarships from Musikfonds, GVL, and the German Music Council. But Dejan is not only a gifted accordionist — he also composes for accordion and symphony orchestra. Several of his works were performed in Serbia at the New Year’s Concert in January 2020 with the RTS Symphony Orchestra, and in 2022 he toured Serbia with the Virtuouzi Symphony Orchestra.
