„OUR COMMUNITY WON’T BE ERASED!“ ist die siebzehnte Veröffentlichung von Jeremy Pelt bei HighNote Records. Unterstützt von einer hochkarätigen Rhythmusgruppe mit Orrin Evans am Klavier sowie den legendären Musikern Buster Williams am Kontrabass und Lenny White am Schlagzeug, besteht das Album aus Originalkompositionen von Pelt. Die Stücke würdigen die Werte der afroamerikanischen Gemeinschaft und ihren vielfältigen Beitrag zum gesellschaftlichen Gefüge der Vereinigten Staaten. Gleichzeitig setzt das Werk ein klares Zeichen gegen das aktuelle politische Klima in den USA, das darauf abzielt, Teile dieser Geschichte aus dem kollektiven Bewusstsein zu verdrängen.

Jeremy Pelt zählt heute zu den bedeutendsten Trompetern seiner Generation im modernen Jazz. Schon früh entwickelte er eine enge Verbindung zur Mingus Big Band. Im Laufe seiner Karriere baute er dieses Netzwerk kontinuierlich aus und arbeitete mit zahlreichen Größen der Jazzwelt zusammen. Zu seinen musikalischen Partnern zählen unter anderem Cliff Coltrane, Frank Foster, Winard Harper, Jimmy Heath, Vincent Herring, John Hicks, Charli Persip, Ralph Peterson, Lonnie Plaxico, Bobby Short, Cedar Walton, Frank Wess, Nancy Wilson sowie The Skatalites.

Darüber hinaus tritt Pelt regelmäßig mit renommierten Ensembles wie der Roy Hargrove Big Band, dem Village Vanguard Orchestra und der Duke Ellington Big Band auf. Er ist außerdem Mitglied des Lewis Nash Septet sowie der Cannonball Adderley Legacy Band mit Louis Hayes. Als Bandleader hat er zahlreiche Alben veröffentlicht und ist mit seinen eigenen Formationen weltweit auf Tournee. Dabei gastierte er bei vielen bedeutenden Jazzfestivals und in renommierten Konzerthäusern rund um den Globus.

Für seine Aufnahmen und Live-Auftritte erhielt Jeremy Pelt sowohl national als auch international große Anerkennung. Er wurde im Wall Street Journal vom legendären Jazzkritiker und Produzenten Nat Hentoff porträtiert und von DownBeat Magazine sowie der Jazz Journalists Association fünf Jahre in Folge als „Rising Star“ der Trompeteausgezeichnet.

“OUR COMMUNITY WON’T BE ERASED!” is Jeremy Pelt’s seventeenth release for HighNote Records. Featuring an all-star rhythm section of Orrin Evans on piano, the legendary pair Buster Williams on bass and Lenny White on drums, the album is comprised of original compositions by Pelt celebrating the virtues of the African-American community and its many contributions to the fabric of the United States. At the same time, it stands as a statement against the current political climate in the United States, which seeks to erase parts of that history.

Jeremy Pelt has become one of the preeminent trumpeters of his generation in the world of jazz. Forging a bond with the Mingus Big Band early in his career, Pelt continued to build upon these relationships and many others, leading to collaborations with some of the genre’s greatest masters.
