Im TRIO IVOIRE verbinden sich der Erfindungsgeist zweier deutscher Improvisatoren und eines Klang­ - Poeten von der Elfenbeinküste: Hier geht es um die reine Lust am Spiel, die sich frei über Traditionen und Kontinente erstreckt. Pianist Hans Lüdemann traf 1999 in Westafrika den Balaphon-Virtuosen Aly Keita. Kurze Zeit später gründeten sie das perkussive Trio, welches seit 2013 mit Christian Thomé am Schlagzeug besetzt ist. Mit dem neuen Album und neuen Programm „Resurrection“ feiern sie 25 Jahre TRIO IVOIRE!

Hans Lüdemann ist ein „Wanderer zwischen den Welten“, der mit dem Klaviertrio ROOMS und dem deutsch-französischen Oktett „TransEuropeExpress“ (T.E.E.) einzigartige europäische Bands geformt hat und im TRIO IVOIRE mit dem Balaphonisten Aly Keita aus transkulturellen Verbindungen zwischen Afrika, Europa und dem Jazz einen neuen musikalischen Kosmos erschafft. Als Solopianist erweitert er den akustischen Klavierklang mit seinem „virtual piano“ zu einem mikrotonalen Instrument, als Komponist hat er ein umfangreiches Werk von Solo bis Orchester geschaffen. Hans Lüdemann wurde mit Rompreis der Villa Massimo und dem ECHO Jazz ausgezeichnet und er arbeitete mit Jan Garbarek, Paul Bley, Toumani Diabaté, Sol Gabetta und Heinz Sauer.

Aly Keita stammt von der Elfenbeinküste. Der Virtuose des Balaphons entwickelte sein Spiel und sein Instrument von der pentatonischen über die diatonische zur chromatischen Spielweise. Er arbeitet zusammen mit Rokia Traoré, Pharoah Sanders, Rhoda Scott, Joe Zawinul, Paco Sery. Aly Keita veröffentlichte eigene Alben mit Band und solo und war international auf Tournee mit dem Projekt „Acoustic Africa“. Seit 1999 spielt er im TRIO IVOIRE und aktuell auch im malischen Projekt „Mande Silla“. Aly Keita wurde 2010 mit dem „Creole“ Preis ausgezeichnet und 2023 mit dem „Deutschen Jazzpreis“:

Christian Thomé lebt in Köln und arbeitet als Schlagzeuger, Komponist, Arrangeur, Produzent und Pädagoge, eine Projekte erstrecken sich von zeitgenössischem Jazz und frei improvisierter Musik über Weltmusik, experimentelle Elektronik und Popmusik bis hin zur Klassik. Er arbeitet mit der Sängerin Mariana Sadovska im Duo „Vesna“ zusammen und spielt im Quartett von Markus Stockhausen. Christian Thomé war Stipendiat der „Kulturakademie Tarabya“ in Istanbul und ist Preisträger von „JazzArt“ und „ECHO Jazz“ und unterrichtet als Dozent an der Hochschule Osnabrück.

The TRIO IVOIRE unites the inventive spirit of two German improvisers and a sound poet from the Ivory Coast: it's all about the pure joy of playing, which extends freely across traditions and continents. Pianist Hans Lüdemann met balaphon virtuoso Aly Keita on a solo tour in West Africa in 1999. A short time later, they formed the percussive trio, since 2013 with Christian Thomé at the drums. With the new album and new program “Resurrection”, they celebrate 25 years of TRIO IVOIRE!

Hans Lüdemann is a “wanderer between worlds”, who has formed unique European bands with the piano trio ROOMS and the German-French octet “TransEuropeExpress” (T.E.E.) and in the TRIO IVOIRE with balaphonist Aly Keita creates a new musical cosmos from transcultural connections between Africa, Europe and jazz. As a solo pianist, he expands the acoustic piano sound into a microtonal instrument with his “virtual piano”, and as a composer he has created an extensive body of work ranging from solo to orchestral. Hans Lüdemann has been awarded the Rome Prize of Villa Massimo and the ECHO Jazz and has worked with Jan Garbarek, Paul Bley, Toumani Diabaté, Sol Gabetta and Heinz Sauer.

Aly Keita comes from Côte d'Ivoire. The balaphone virtuoso has developed his playing and his instrument from pentatonic to diatonic to chromatic. He has worked with Rokia Traoré, Pharoah Sanders, Amadou & Mariam, Rhoda Scott, Joe Zawinul and Paco Sery. Aly Keita has released his own albums with band and solo and has toured internationally with the project “Acoustic Africa”. Since 1999 he has played in the TRIO IVOIRE and currently also in the Malian project “Mande Silla”. Aly Keita was awarded the “Creole” prize in 2010 and the “German Jazz Prize” in 2023.

Christian Thomé lives in Cologne and works as a drummer, composer, arranger, producer and educator, with projects ranging from contemporary jazz and free improvised music to world music, experimental electronics, pop music and classical music. He works with the singer Mariana Sadovska in the duo “Vesna” and plays in Markus Stockhausen's quartet. Christian Thomé was a scholarship holder of the “Kulturakademie Tarabya” in Istanbul and is a winner of ‘JazzArt’ and “ECHO Jazz” awards, he teaches at the Musikhochschule Osnabrück.
