Für diesen besonderen Abend im Zig Zag wird Natascha eine Auswahl von selten gehörten Stücken als eine Hommage and drei der einflußreichsten Stimmen des Vokalen Jazz präsentieren.
Sheila Jordan ist bis heute Trendsetterin ihrer Kunst. Erste und jahrelang einzige Vokalkünstlerin des legendären Jazzlabels Blue Note und bis heute einzigartig in ihrer immer noch hochmodernen und doch dem Swing und Bebop hingegebenen Ausdrucksform. Sarah Vaughan galt mit ihrem voluminösen und an Farben reichhaltigem Sound als DIE große Stimme des Jazz. Dinah Washington setzte durch ihre Stimmkraft und Phrasierung einen Standard, der bis in die heutige Generation von Sängerinnen prägend wirkte - die geniale Popikone Amy Winehouse benannte Dinah als eines der prägenden Vorbilder ihrer Kunst.
Natascha Roth selbst ist eine hochgradig individuelle Künstlerin mit bestechendem Timbre und unglaublich wandelbarer Stimme, die in ihrer natürlich dynamischen Performance tiefes Gefühl und herausragende Gesangstechnik mitreißend verbindet. Durch jahrelange Wahlheimaten in anderen Ländern Europas, New York und Südafrika gilt Natascha in Deutschland immer noch als Geheimtipp- Die Sängerin lebt derzeit in Berlin und ist neben ihrer künstlerischen Arbeit Dozentin für Gesang an der SRH Hochschule der populären Künste tätig.

James Scholfield - tourt national und international mit dem nordamerikanischen Sänger Curtis Stigers in den USA, GB, Skandinavien, Russland und kommt soeben direkt von der Bühne des Montreux Jazzfestivals zurück nach Berlin. James Scholfield’s “All Stations” produziert und herausgegeben von Challenge Records featured den legendären Jazzschlagzeuger Billy Hart und verbindet seine musikalischen Wurzeln im Jazz sowie die seiner langjährigen Heimat Südafrika
Phil Donkin - lebte viele Jahre in London und New York und etablierte sich als einer der führenden Bassisten seiner Generation. Phil spielte zahlreiche Produktionen als Sideman für renommierte Namen des Jazz auf beiden Seiten des Atlantiks. Phil’s kürzlich erschienene CD “The Gate” ist Zeichen seiner tiefen Verbindung zur Musik als Ganzes sowie seiner herausragender Fähigkeiten als Instrumentalist.
Sebastian Merk - gilt als einer der kreativsten Jazzschlagzeuger und Multiinstrumentalisten der deutschen Jazzszene. Sebastian spielte als Sideman für grosse Namen des Jazz wie Lee Konitz, Kurt Rosenwinkel, Ack van Rooyen, Till Brönner, Eddie Henderson, Mark Murphy, Don Friedman, Ernie Watts u.a. Neben seiner künstlerischen Aktivität ist Sebastian Professor für Schlagzeug an der Universität in Dresden.

Sarah Vaughan and Dinah Washington and Sheila Jordan - with some original compositions for a modern touch.
For this special evening at ZigZag Natascha will present a rare selection of songs as tribute to three of the great vocalists in Jazz who all in their own way formed and shaped the great Art of Jazz Singing.
Sarah Vaughan with her exceptional range, variety of tone and improvisational skill made her to many one of the great voices of the past century. Dinah Washington through her dynamic piercing vocal power and her strong swing feel, set a standard that lasted as long as recent generations of singers like the great pop icon Amy Whinehouse - who mentioned Dinah as one of the main influences in her art. Sheila Jordan is a vocalist beyond compare. Never commercial, always unique and to this day even her early recordings stand strong when it comes to modern sound and artistic approach.
Natascha Roth has been touring and working internationally for a number of years as a singer, songwriter and educator. A highly individual artist, rooted in tradition who manages to combine vocal excellence with emotional depth and constantly strives to deepen her art - not least through the sidemen she aims to work with.

James Scholfield has been touring extensively with the singer Curtis Stigers (USA) recently playing the Montreux Jazzfestival as well as touring the USA, Scandinavia, UK, Germany and Russia. “All Stations” James’ Solo Album featuring legendary jazz drummer Billy Hart was produced and released by Challenge records.
Phil Donkin has risen to become one of the premier European bassists of his generation. He has played on over 50 recordings as a sideman both in Europe and the U.S, on various labels. His own album ‘The Gate,’ was released on Whirlwind Recordings in March 2015.
Sebastian Merk is a sought after drummer and multi instrumentalist who always enhances the music with his overview of the complete picture and attention to detail. Highly musical and sensitive to his surroundings Sebastian is in constant demand by many of the leading jazz artists of today.
ENTRANCE FEES
One of the reasons that makes the zig zag jazz club so unique is that it is the first and only jazz club in the world that manages to finance world class events through a donation/crowd funding concept. How do we do it? Its quite simple… during the break of the concert we make an announcement regarding the collection for the evening. For most concerts (excluding the jam session) we inform our customers that a donation of around 15€ per person will allow us to fairly compensate the musicians. Some people give more and some give less… and that´s ok… we ´ve already successfully promoted hundreds of concerts like this!!!
EINTRITT
Einer der Gründe, die den Zig Zag Jazzclub so einzigartig machen, ist, dass er der erste und einzige Jazzclub der Welt ist, dem es gelingt nur durch Spenden/Crowdfunding Events von Weltklasse zu finanzieren. Und wie machen wir das? Ganz einfach. Während der Konzertpause geben wir bekannt, dass wir Geld einsammeln werden. Bei den meisten Konzerten (außer Jam Sessions) informieren wir unsere Kunden, dass eine Spende von ungefähr 15 Euro es uns erlaubt die Musiker gerecht zu bezahlen. Manche geben dabei mehr und andere weniger... und das ist auch in Ordnung. Wir haben auf diese Weise schon Hunderte Konzerte organisiert.
