Wayne Escoffery's Quartet consists of musicians who are undisputedly among the best in the world on their respective instruments, both technically and creatively. The Quartet presents exquisite hard bop on the more elegant end of the spectrum. Its sound is hard-hitting characterized by an indomitable creative energy and sophisticated melodies. The Süddeutsche Zeitung described the band as a "..smart vital balance between wild outbursts of sound and distinctive phrasings."
The band released their new album "Vortex" on Sunnyside Records in January 2018. The concert at Zig Zag Jazzclub will be a CD release and a birthday celebration. The band debuted in April of 2014 with a performance and live recording made at Smalls Jazz Club in New York City. In February of 2015 the band celebrated the release of that recording "Wayne Escoffery Live at Smalls" with a week long engagement at the world famous Village Vanguard Jazz Club and since has been touring the globe performing for consistently sold out houses world wide.
Das Wayne Escoffery Quartet besteht aus Musikern, die in technischer und kreativer Hinsicht unbestritten zu den weltweit besten Künstlern an ihren jeweiligen Instrumenten gehören. Die Band präsentiert exquisiten Hard Bop am eleganteren Ende des Spektrums. Ihr Sound ist geprägt von unbeugsamer, kreativer Energie und raffinierten, geschmeidigen Melodien. Die Süddeutsche Zeitung beschrieb die Musik der Band als "..pfiffige vitale Balance zwischen wilden, sich in der Soundwirkung flächigen Texturen nähernden Tonausbrüchen und markanten Phrasierungen".
Im Januar 2018 hat die Band ihr neues Album "Vortex" bei Sunnyside Records herausgebracht. Das Konzert im Zig Zag Jazzclub wird eine CD-Release- und eine Geburtstagsfeier. Im April 2014 debütierte das Quartett mit einer Performance und Live-Aufnahme im Smalls Jazz Club in New York City. Im Februar 2015 feierte die Band die Veröffentlichung der Aufnahme "Wayne Escoffery Live at Smalls" mit einer einwöchigen, ausverkauften Show im weltbekannten Village Vanguard. Seither tourt die Band um die Welt und begeistert ihr Publikum in durchweg ausverkauften Clubs.
