Eyal Lovett is an award wining Israeli jazz pianist and composer, currently living in Berlin. Lovett was chosen to be the 2017 “Artist of the year” by Jazzy Berlin. In June 2018 Eyal Lovett Trio won 1st place at the international competition JazzWings in Warsaw.
Lovett's music is an inspiring combination of the classical-sensitive piano trio style, iconically represented by the likes of Bill Evans and Brad Mehldau, Israeli folk music, and traditional Mediterranean music which have shaped the musical environment of his youth.

Eyal's 3rd album was recorded in Octobr 2017, in a live concert in Horns Erben, Leipzig. The album will be released in 2019, and features the amazing Eran Har Even(Amsterdam) on guitar.
Eyal’s 2nd album – “Tales From a Forbidden Land” was released on Oct 2016 to critical acclaim, and features Gilad Hekselman on Guitar. The album was released by the London based label Two Rivers Records as a double CD.
Like the trio first album, “Let Go”, that was released in 2013 to critical acclaim, the music consist of original compositions, arrangements for standards and for Israeli rock and folk songs. Eyal’s music comes from a wide range of influences - He is classically trained, and he is deeply immersed in the jazz tradition, as well as in the diverse music that is found in Israel and the Middle East.

In recent years Berlin-based double bass player Thomas Kolarczyk has earned a reputation as a multi-faceted, genre-spanning musician and composer. His musical career started with the classical guitar, moving to playing electric bass with metal, punk and funk bands in his youth, which finally brought him to the double bass.
Until 2015 he studied double bass with Marc Muellbauer and Greg Cohen at the Jazz Institute of the Academy of Music Hanns Eisler and the University of the Arts in Berlin. In 2012, he spent half a year in Krakow, working in the Polish art, dance and improvisation scene. As a busy sideman in jazz bands including Flying Cakes, Abisko Lights, Marc Doffey Quintet, Leleka and the Gaststätte zum Heißen Hirten, he is active in the Berlin jazz scene. Another focus of his musical work lies in his collaborations with musicians from world music. He has played with the Turkish band Roye Ma, the Kurdish singer Sakina, and was a double winner of the Creole competition for world music. He plays both with classical orchestras and in opera projects, as well as in the experimental Berlin rock band The Somnambulist.
The diversity of all these musical influences finds a balance in his compositions and arrangements, some of which appeared on the debut album of his quintet in April 2018 as a part of the prestigious Jazz thing Next Generation CD series. Through his concert career, Thomas Kolarczyk has traveled widely, including trips to Liechtenstein, USA, France, Italy, China, Ukraine, and Russia.
He is also a prizewinner in numerous competitions, including Jugend Musiziert, Jugend Jazzt, Art of Improvisation, HFM Jazz Prize, Young German Jazz Award and Young Munich Jazz Prize.
-Aidan Lowe completed his Bachelor of Music (Honours 1st Class) at the Australian National University in 2011, receiving the ANU University Medal for outstanding achievement throughout his studies. During his years at ANU Aidan was an active member in the Canberra music scene, playing in many different ensembles in a variety of genres. From 2009-2012 he performed on twelve albums by Australian groups including Change by the Rafael Jerjen Quartet (2009), Samadhi by the Reuben Lewis Quintet (2009), Fractured Spring by the Reuben Lewis Ensemble (2011) and People and Lightbulbs by the Luke Sweeting Sextet (2012). As a member of many different ensembles, Aidan has toured extensively throughout Australia and New Zealand and supported acts such as INXS, Tim Rogers and Chris Isaak (USA).

One of the reasons that makes the zig zag jazz club so unique is that it is the first and only jazz club in the world that manages to finance world class events through a crowd funding concept. How do we do it? Its quite simple… during the break of the concert we make an announcement regarding the collection for the evening. For most concerts (excluding the jam session) we inform our customers that a fee of around 15€ per person will allow us to fairly compensate the musicians. Some people give more and some give less… and that´s ok… we ´ve already successfully promoted hundreds of concerts like this!!!

Einer der Gründe, die den Zig Zag Jazzclub so einzigartig machen, ist, dass er der erste und einzige Jazzclub der Welt ist, dem es gelingt nur durch freiwilligem Eintritt/Crowdfunding Events von Weltklasse zu finanzieren. Und wie machen wir das? Ganz einfach. Während der Konzertpause geben wir bekannt, dass wir Geld einsammeln werden. Bei den meisten Konzerten (außer Jam Sessions) informieren wir unsere Kunden, dass ein Beitrag von ungefähr 15 Euro es uns erlaubt die Musiker gerecht zu bezahlen. Manche geben dabei mehr und andere weniger... und das ist auch in Ordnung. Wir haben auf diese Weise schon Hunderte Konzerte organisiert.
