'Szolnok' is an album that was recorded with and traces in music the true story of the renowned Australian violinist Daniel Weltlinger's grandfather's violin from Szolnok, that was carried by foot from Hungary to France between 1920-1922. The violin was literally carried across the entire globe - from Budapest to Vienna to Marseilles to Casablanca to Sydney to Berlin - and the album consists of a mix of original material mixing jazz, classical, folk and free improvised music influences as well as songs that Weltlinger's grandfather played on the violin. The Szolnok album follows the historical line of this instrument and it's whereabouts until the present day, and represents a story about time, continuity and most importantly about moving forward. It is a story for the ages.
'Szolnok' ist ein Album, das erzählt im musik die wahre Geschichte der Geige des bekannt australischen Geigers Daniel Weltlinger, die zwischen 1920-1922 zu Fuß von Ungarn nach Frankreich getragen wurde von Weltlinger's Großvater. Die Geige wurde buchstäblich über den ganzen Globus getragen - von Budapest über Wien bis Marseille, Casablanca, Sydney und heute im Berlin. Das Album besteht aus einer Mischung aus Originalmaterial, Jazz, Klassik, Folk und frei improvisierte Musikeinflüsse sowie Lieder das sein Großvater spielte auf der Geige. Das Szolnok-Album folgt der historischen Linie dieses Instruments und dessen Verbleib bis heute und repräsentiert eine Geschichte über Zeit, Kontinuität und vor allem über das Vorankommen. Es ist eine Geschichte für die Ewigkeit.

EINTRITT
Einer der Gründe, die den Zig Zag Jazzclub so einzigartig machen, ist, dass er der erste und einzige Jazzclub der Welt ist, dem es gelingt nur durch freiwilligem Eintritt/Crowdfunding Events von Weltklasse zu finanzieren. Und wie machen wir das? Ganz einfach. Während der Konzertpause geben wir bekannt, dass wir Geld einsammeln werden. Bei den meisten Konzerten (außer Jam Sessions) informieren wir unsere Kunden, dass ein Beitrag von ungefähr 15 Euro es uns erlaubt die Musiker gerecht zu bezahlen. Manche geben dabei mehr und andere weniger... und das ist auch in Ordnung. Wir haben auf diese Weise schon Hunderte Konzerte organisiert.
ENTRANCE FEES
One of the reasons that makes the zig zag jazz club so unique is that it is the first and only jazz club in the world that manages to finance world class events through a crowd funding concept. How do we do it? Its quite simple… during the break of the concert we make an announcement regarding the collection for the evening. For most concerts (excluding the jam session) we inform our customers that a fee of around 15€ per person will allow us to fairly compensate the musicians. Some people give more and some give less… and that´s ok… we ´ve already successfully promoted hundreds of concerts like this!!!
