Tenorsaxophonist Ben Kraef ist einer der herausragendsten Saxophonisten Deutschlands und präsentiert mit seinem Trio eine mitreissende Mischung aus Songs des klassischen Jazzrepertoires und eigenen, originellen Kompositionen. Der Stil dieser Besetzung ist geprägt von Einflüssen durch u. a. Sonny Rollins, John Coltrane, Dewey Redman, Yusef Lateef und Joe Lovano und gibt der kompletten Bandbreite des Saxophons Raum zur Entfaltung. Mit Phil Donkin und Paolo Orlandi bilden zwei der versiertesten und gefragtesten Musiker der europäischen Jazzszene die Rhythmusgruppe dieser kreativen und energiegeladenen Besetzung.

Ben Kraef ist ein deutsch-montenegrinischer Saxophonist und Komponist, der in Berlin lebt. Ben schloss sein Studium an der Hochschule für Musik "Hanns Eisler" in Berlin ab und erwarb 2009 einen Master of Arts am City College of New York, wo er 2008 mit dem Billie-Stoller-Stipendium für einen herausragenden Wissenschaftler und Musiker ausgezeichnet wurde. Die Liste der international renommierten Musiker mit denen Ben auftrat und aufnahm, umfasst Koryphäen wie John Abercrombie, John Patitucci, Vincent HerringLalo Schifrin, Fred Hersch, Pee Wee Ellis und Till Brönner sowie Popgruppen wie "Wir Sind Helden" und die Radio-Bigbands von HR und WDR. Zudem ist er Preisträger in verschiedenen nationalen und internationalen Wettbewerben, so z. B. Biberacher Jazzpreis, ‘Concours International de Jazz de Fribourg, Yamaha Saxophone Contest. Seit 2021 unterrichtet Kraef am Jazz-Institut Berlin.

Igor Spallati - geboren 1985 in Italien, begann er mit 19 Jahren Kontrabass zu spielen und studierte in Italien klassischen Kontrabass bei Silvio Bruni und Franco Petracchi. 2010 zog er nach Berlin, um am „Jazz Institut Berlin“ unter der Leitung von Greg Cohen, John Hollenbeck, Kurt Rosenwinkel und anderen zu studieren. Unter anderem hat er mit Ikonen des Jazz wie Joe Chambers, Billy Hart, Nasheet Waits, Jorge Rossy, Fred Hersch, Ethan Iverson, Ambrose Akinmusire, Lewis Nash, Elias Stemeseder, Jay Anderson, Ronnie Burrage, Pietro Tonolo, Gabriele Mirabassi, Dado Moroni, Joe Hisaishi, Louis Bacalov und der HR BigBand gearbeitet.

Paolo Orlandi ist ein italienischer Drummer und Jazzpädagoge. Studiert hat er in Mailand und New York; in letzterer Stadt teilte er die Bühne mit dem Who-is-Who der Szene, allen voran mit Bassistenlegende John Patitucci, der über Paolo schrieb: "Paolo has always been a gifted, swinging, sensitive drummer and all around musician. He also possesses a brilliant mind and he is a great teacher.” Er tourte weltweit und ist ein hochgeschätzter Sideman, ebenfalls ist er Professor für Schlagzueug am Konservatorium von Genf.

Tenor saxophonist Ben Kraef is one of Germany’s outstanding jazz musicians and presents with his trio a captivating blend of songs from the classic jazz repertoire alongside his own original compositions. The group’s style is shaped by influences such as Sonny Rollins, John Coltrane, Dewey Redman, Yusef Lateef, and Joe Lovano, allowing the full expressive range of the saxophone to unfold. With Phil Donkin and Paolo Orlandi, two of the most accomplished and sought-after musicians on the European jazz scene form the rhythm section of this creative and dynamic ensemble.

Ben Kraef is a German-Montenegrin saxophonist and composer based in Berlin. He graduated from the Hochschule für Musik "Hanns Eisler" in Berlin and earned a Master of Arts degree from the City College of New York in 2009, where he was awarded the Billie Stoller Scholarship in 2008 for outstanding academic and musical achievement. The list of internationally renowned artists with whom Ben has performed and recorded includes luminaries such as John Abercrombie, John Patitucci, Vincent Herring, Lalo Schifrin, Fred Hersch, Pee Wee Ellis, and Till Brönner, as well as pop groups like "Wir Sind Helden" and the HR and WDR Radio Big Bands. He is also a prizewinner in several national and international competitions, including the Biberach Jazz Prize, the Concours International de Jazz de Fribourg, and the Yamaha Saxophone Contest. Since 2021, Kraef has been teaching at the Jazz Institute Berlin.

Igor Spallati - born in Italy in 1985, he began playing double bass at the age of 19 and studied classical double bass in Italy with Silvio Bruni and Franco Petracchi. In 2010 he moved to Berlin to study at the "Jazz Institut Berlin" under the guidance of Greg Cohen, John Hollenbeck, Kurt Rosenwinkel and others. He studied in Milan and New York; in the latter city he shared the stage with the who's who of the scene, above all with bassist legend John Patitucci, who wrote about Paolo: "Paolo has always been a gifted, swinging, sensitive drummer and all around musician. He also possesses a brilliant mind and he is a great teacher." He has toured worldwide and is a highly esteemed sideman, as well as a professor of percussion at the Geneva Conservatory.
