Mehr als zwei Jahrzehnte nach seiner Veröffentlichung lädt Jazzanova dazu ein, das Debütalbum „In Between“ (2002) neu zu entdecken. Im September 2024 nahm die Jazzanova Live Band das Album in den Little Big Beat Studios in Liechtenstein neu auf – in einem heute selten gewordenen, vollständig analogen AAA-Verfahren. Von der Aufnahme über den Mix bis zum Mastering erfolgte jeder Schritt mit analoger Technik.
„In Between“ gilt bis heute als wegweisende Verbindung von samplebasierten Beats und Live-Instrumenten und prägte den Sound des Nu Jazz entscheidend mit. Mehr als zwanzig Jahre später überträgt die Jazzanova Live Band diese Musik nun auf eine siebenköpfige Besetzung und verbindet die ursprünglichen Samples und Produktionen mit dem direkten Zusammenspiel einer Live-Band.
Seit fast drei Jahrzehnten gehört das Berliner Kollektiv Jazzanova zu den international prägenden Projekten an der Schnittstelle von Jazz, Soul und elektronischer Musik – im Club, im Studio und auf der Festivalbühne. Für dieses Programm wird die Live Band von zwei besonderen Gästen ergänzt: Clara Hill, die bereits auf dem Originalalbum von 2002 bei „No Use“ zu hören war, und Wayne Snow, der in der neuen Livefassung unter anderem „That Night“ übernimmt.
More than two decades after its original release, Jazzanova invites audiences to rediscover their debut album “In Between” (2002). In September 2024, the Jazzanova Live Band recorded the album anew at Little Big Beat Studios in Liechtenstein, using the increasingly rare, completely analog AAA process. Every step, from recording and mixing to mastering, was done using analog equipment.
“In Between” remains a pioneering fusion of sample-based beats and live instrumentation and played an important role in shaping the sound of nu jazz. More than twenty years later, the Jazzanova Live Band brings this music to a seven-piece live setting, combining the samples and productions of the original with the direct interplay of a live band.
For nearly three decades, Berlin’s Jazzanova has been one of the defining international projects at the intersection of jazz, soul and electronic music – from the club to the studio to the festival stage. For this programme, the Live Band is joined by two special guests: Clara Hill, who already appeared on the original 2002 album on “No Use”, and Wayne Snow, who takes on “That Night” in the new live version.
