Erste Band:
ETLAM is a new trio led by drummer and composer Malte Wiest, exploring the space between contemporary jazz, complex compositions and indie aesthetics. With synthesizer, bass and drums, the band creates a dense sound in which carefully constructed structures intertwine with spontaneous improvisation.

Intricate forms and shifting rhythms meet stripped-back, almost fragile passages and clear, occasionally nostalgic melodies. Distinctive motifs hold the compositions together while leaving room for spontaneous musical developments. At times hypnotic and flowing, at others angular and energetic, ETLAM explores the possibilities of this unusual trio line-up.

The band plans to release its debut EP in late 2026, featuring saxophonist Wanja Slavin among its guests.

Zweite Band:
Ukrainian saxophonist and composer Evgeniy Abin has been based in Berlin since 2022, studying at the Jazz Institute Berlin under Peter Weniger. His new septet focuses on his original compositions and the interplay of three tenor saxophonists.

The project grew out of a collaboration with Aaron Klenke and Nils Feldmann, who performed together at Abin's bachelor's graduation concert in July 2026. Following the concert, the three tenor saxophonists began meeting and rehearsing regularly under the name Saxophone Summit, exploring new musical possibilities through their shared instrumentation.

In 2025, Abin had already presented and recorded his own compositions at the Jazz Institute Berlin with a quartet featuring Arseniy Rykov, Christian Müller and Henry Hahnfeld. With the Evgeniy Abin Septet, he now expands his compositional ideas through the tonal variety and improvisational possibilities of three tenor saxophones.
