Lily Dahab gehört längst zu den prägenden Stimmen der europäischen World-Jazz-Szene. Mit ihrer Band und Orchester hat sie den Kammermusiksaal der Berliner Philharmonie bereits zweimal ausverkauft – ein deutliches Zeichen für ihre Strahlkraft. Die aus Buenos Aires stammende Sängerin, von der Presse treffend als „die mit der Stimme küsst“ beschrieben, verbindet in ihrer Musik südamerikanische Traditionen mit Jazz und eigenen Kompositionen. Ihr Debütalbum Nómade wurde unmittelbar für den Preis der Deutschen Schallplattenkritik nominiert, Huellas von der Kritik gefeiert (u. a. CD der Woche bei MDR und SWR). Nach über 320 Konzerten folgte mit Bajo un mismo cielo ein programmatisches Werk: „Wir sind alle Kinder aus einer gemeinsamen Wurzel, unter einem Himmel.“ Dahab versammelt darin Musik aus Argentinien, Brasilien, Uruguay, Chile und Spanien und verbindet Stile wie Tango, Chacarera, Zamba, Candombe, Samba, Bossa Nova und Flamenco zu einem organischen, persönlichen Klangbild.

Inzwischen ist sie auf renommierten europäischen Festivals präsent und stand mit Künstlern wie John Scofield, Joshua Redman oder Al Di Meola auf der Bühne. Ihre eigene Biografie spiegelt diese Offenheit: Studium in Buenos Aires, prägende Jahre in Madrid und Barcelona, schließlich der Lebensmittelpunkt Berlin. Gemeinsam mit ihrem Partner, Pianisten und Musical Director Bene Aperdannier, formt sie den Kern ihres Ensembles.

Bene Aperdannier studierte Jazzpiano in Berlin und arbeitete u. a. mit Max Herre, Joy Denalane, Jocelyn B. Smith, Jazzanova, Nina Hagen und Ed Sheeran. Zudem wirkte er an Filmmusikproduktionen von Howard Shore mit und ist als Pianist bei The Voice of Germany tätig. Seit 2025 leitet er ein eigenes Trio.

Carlos Corona, geboren in Guadalajara, ist Gitarrist mit Schwerpunkt auf der brasilianischen siebensaitigen Gitarre. Sein Album Siete Cuerdas Tapatías (2015) wurde von der Kulturbehörde Jalisco gefördert. Ein Auftritt beim Internationalen Jalisco Jazz Festival brachte ihm eine Nominierung für den Lunas del Auditorio Award ein.

Max Hughes ist ein in Berlin lebender Bassist, Komponist und Produzent mit internationaler Karriere. Er studierte u. a. am Berklee College of Music und arbeitete mit Künstlern wie Chaka Khan, Toni Braxton und Ack van Rooyen. Neben seiner Konzerttätigkeit lehrt er an der UdK Berlin, der HfM Hanns Eisler und dem Jazz Institute Berlin.

Rolo Rodriguez, geboren in Montevideo, ist seit Jahrzehnten eine feste Größe der Berliner Szene. Er spielte u. a. im RIAS Tanzorchester und der RIAS Bigband sowie mit Künstlern wie Till Brönner und war an zahlreichen Produktionen beteiligt.

Lily Dahab has become a defining voice on the European world jazz scene. Performing with her band and orchestra, she has sold out the Chamber Music Hall of the Berlin Philharmonie twice—an impressive testament to her growing international presence. Born in Buenos Aires and described by critics as “the one who kisses with her voice,” Dahab blends South American musical traditions with jazz and original compositions.

Her debut album Nómade was immediately nominated for the German Record Critics’ Award, while Huellas received widespread acclaim (including “Album of the Week” on MDR and SWR). After more than 320 concerts, Bajo un mismo cielo marked a significant artistic statement: “We are all children of the same roots, under one sky.” The album brings together music from Argentina, Brazil, Uruguay, Chile, and Spain, weaving together tango, chacarera, zamba, candombe, samba, bossa nova, and flamenco into a cohesive and personal musical language.

Dahab now performs regularly at major European festivals and has shared the stage with artists such as John Scofield, Joshua Redman, and Al Di Meola. Her own journey reflects this openness: studies in Buenos Aires, formative years in Madrid and Barcelona, and ultimately settling in Berlin. Together with pianist and musical director Bene Aperdannier, she shapes the core of her ensemble.

Her current album stands as a clear statement of artistic collaboration and openness, carried by a voice that moves effortlessly between intensity and intimacy.

Bene Aperdannier studied jazz piano in Berlin and has worked with artists including Max Herre, Joy Denalane, Jocelyn B. Smith, Jazzanova, Nina Hagen, and Ed Sheeran. He has also contributed to film scores by Howard Shore and performs as a pianist on The Voice of Germany. Since 2025, he leads his own trio.

Carlos Corona, born in Guadalajara, is a guitarist specializing in the Brazilian seven-string guitar. His debut album Siete Cuerdas Tapatías (2015) was supported by the cultural ministry of Jalisco. A performance at the International Jalisco Jazz Festival earned him a nomination for the Lunas del Auditorio Award.

Max Hughes is a Berlin-based bassist, composer, and producer with an international career. He studied at the Berklee College of Music and has collaborated with artists such as Chaka Khan, Toni Braxton, and Ack van Rooyen. He also teaches at the Berlin University of the Arts, Hanns Eisler School of Music, and the Jazz Institute Berlin.

Rolo Rodriguez, born in Montevideo, has been an integral part of the Berlin scene for decades. He performed with the RIAS Dance Orchestra and RIAS Big Band, among others, and has collaborated with artists such as Till Brönner while contributing to numerous recordings.
