Die renommierte tschechische Jazzsängerin Martina Barta kehrt zurück nach Berlin mit einem neuen Album „You Taught My Heart To Sing“ (Malletmuse Records) und einer Band aus internationalen Spitzenmusikern. Seit 14 Jahren ist Berlin ihre Wahlheimat, doch nach einem inspirierenden Aufenthalt in New York, bringt sie nun frischen Wind auf die Bühne des Zig Zag Jazz Clubs. Begleitet wird sie vom Creme de la Creme Jazz Quartet feat. den legendären amerikanischen Vibraphonisten David Friedman, mit dem sie seit 2019 im Duo spielt. Gemeinsam schaffen sie eine magische Verbindung aus Stimme und Vibraphon, die jeden Jazzfreund begeistert.

Die Sängerin Martina Barta gehört mit ihrem einzigartigen Gesangsart zu einer der anerkanntesten Sängerinnen ihrer Generation. Geboren in Prag, lebt sie seit 2011 in Berlin, wo sie am Jazz-Institut Gesang studierte und seit 2021 zum Teil auch in New York. 2017 vertrat sie ihr Heimatland, die Tschechische Republik beim Eurovision Song Contest in Kiew. Seit 2019 tritt sie außerdem regelmäßig im Duo mit dem legendären amerikanischen Vibraphonisten David Friedman auf. Darüber hinaus konzertiert sie mit ihrer Schwester, der erfolgreichen tschechischen Pianistin und Komponistin Kristina Barta, mit der sie u.a. 2020 am Album "Love and Passion" (Alessa Records) als Co-Autorin mitgearbeitet hat. Seit September 2021 ist Martina Barta als DAAD Stipendiatin im Masterstudienprogramm an der renommierten Musikakademie - Manhattan School of Music in NYC, wo sie u.a. JazzmusikerInnen wie Buster Williams, Ingrid Jensen und Theo Bleckmann zusammenarbeitet.

Die lebende Jazzlegende David Friedman ist einer der einflussreichsten Vibraphonisten in der Geschichte des Instruments. Er hat mit so unterschiedlichen Musikerpersönlichkeiten wie Leonard Bernstein, Luciano Berio, Bobby McFerrin, Wayne Shorter und Yoko Ono zusammengearbeitet – nur wenige Jazzmusiker können ein so breites Spektrum an Bühnen- und Aufnahmeerfahrungen vorweisen. Die Liste ist damit nicht zu Ende. Friedman war live oder auf Aufnahmen u.a. mit Joe Henderson, Horace Silver, Johnny Griffin, Hubert Laws, Jane Ira Bloom, Ron Carter und John Scofield zu hören. Berlinern ist er zudem als langjähriger Förderer des deutschen Jazznachwuchses bekannt; er hielt eine Professur am renommierten Jazz-Institut der Udk Berlin.

Hila Kulik begann im Alter von 8 Jahren mit dem Klavierstudium und machte 2010 ihren Abschluss an der Jerusalem Academy. Nachdem sie mit vielen der besten Musiker Israels gespielt hatte, kam Hila im Januar 2014 nach New York und erwarb im Januar 2016 einen Master-Abschluss an der Aaron Copland School of Music am Queens College. In den letzten zehn Jahren ist Hila mit führenden Jazzmusikern in Israel und im Ausland aufgetreten, darunter Cyrille Aimee, Antonio Hart, Donald Harrison, Michael Varekamp und vielen mehr. Sie in zahllosen Venues und Festivals von Israel über Europa bis in die USA aufgetreten. Neben ihrer pianistischen Tätigkeit arbeitet sie als Beraterin und Koordinatorin für das Jazzprogramm an der Aaron Copland School of Music.

Josh Ginsburg ist eine feste Größe auf den Konzertbühnen und in den Jazzclubs der Welt. Sein jüngstes Album als Leader, "Zembla Variations", wurde vom New York City Jazz Record zum Album des Jahres gewählt. Als New Yorker Musiker der ersten Stunde trat er regelmäßig mit zahlreichen einflussreichen Musikern auf und war auf internationalen Tourneen mit Bands von Kurt Rosenwinkel, David Friedman, Jeremy Pelt, E.J. Strickland, George Colligan, Jure Pukl, Logan Richardson, Diego Piñera, Tino Derado und Aruán Ortiz.

Marc Michel ist ein französischer Schlagzeuger, Komponist und Multiinstrumentalist. Als Master-Absolvent der Royal Academy of Music in London tritt er häufig mit zahlreichen internationalen Künstlern wie Ben Wendel, Seamus Blake, Danny Grissett, Chris Cheek, Kurt Rosenwinkel, Mike Moreno, Jasper Hoiby, Tim Garland und EYM auf Bühnen und Aufnahmestudios auf Trio und mehr.

Singer Martina Barta with her unique singing style belongs to one of the most recognized singers of her generation. Born in Prague, she has been living in Berlin since 2011, where she studied singing at the Jazz Institute, and since 2021 she has also been living partly in New York. In 2017 she represented her home country, the Czech Republic at the Eurovision Song Contest in Kiev. The living jazz legend David Friedman is one of the most influential vibraphonists in the history of the instrument. He has collaborated with a diverse array of musical personalities, including Leonard Bernstein, Luciano Berio, Bobby McFerrin, Wayne Shorter, and Yoko Ono. Few jazz musicians can claim such a broad range of stage and recording experience. His list of collaborations also includes performances with Joe Henderson, Horace Silver, Johnny Griffin, Hubert Laws, Jane Ira Bloom, Ron Carter, and John Scofield. In Berlin, he is well-known for his long-standing support of the German jazz scene and held a professorship at the prestigious Jazz Institute of the UdK Berlin.

Hila Kulik began studying piano at the age of 8 and graduated from the Jerusalem Academy in 2010. After playing with many of Israel's finest musicians, Hila came to New York in January 2014 and earned a Master's degree from the Aaron Copland School of Music at Queens College in January 2016. Over the past decade, Hila has performed with leading jazz musicians in Israel and abroad, includingAchinoam Nini (Noa), Antonio Hart, Donald Harrison, Michael Varekamp, Bria Skonberg, Pauline Jean (NYC), Shirzette Tinnin and many more. She has performed in countless venues and festivals from Israel to Europe to the USA. In addition to her pianistic activities, she works as a consultant and coordinator for the jazz program at the Aaron Copland School of Music.

Josh Ginsburg is a fixture on concert stages and in jazz clubs around the world. His most recent album as a leader, "Zembla Variations", was named Album of the Year by the New York City Jazz Record. A New York musician from the beginning, he has performed regularly with many influential musicians and has toured internationally with bands led by Kurt Rosenwinkel, David Friedman, Jeremy Pelt, E.J. Strickland, George Colligan, Jure Pukl, Logan Richardson, Diego Piñera, Tino Derado and Aruán Ortiz.

Marc Michel is a french drummer, composer, and multi-instrumentalist. Master's graduate of the Royal Academy of Music in London, he frequently appears on stages and recording studios with numerous international artists such as Ben Wendel, Seamus Blake, Danny Grissett, Chris Cheek, Kurt Rosenwinkel, Mike Moreno, Jasper Hoiby, Tim Garland, EYM Trio, and more.
