Die in Berlin lebenden israelischen und iranischen Musiker suchen mit ihrem Projekt eine neue Form des Dialoges.

Sie bedienen sich sowohl folkloristischer und religiöser Melodien aus Klezmer, sephardischer und traditionell persischer Musik als auch moderner und klassischer Kompositionen. Die unterschiedlichen Melodien und Motive, neu arrangiert mit Einflüssen von Flamenco und Jazz bis hin zu progressivem Metal, verschmelzen zu einer Musik, die etwas ganz Neues entstehen lässt und eine Brücke zwischen zwei Welten baut. Im Namen ihrer Gruppe spiegelt sich dies wider, er leitet sich ab von „Sistan“, einer iranischen Provinz, und dem populären hebräischen Volkslied „Hava Nagila“.

„Sayat Nova in Berlin – Die Welt von Morgen“
Inspiriert vom armenischen Dichter Sayat Nova präsentiert das Projekt eine transkulturelle Musikinszenierung mit Künstler:innen aus Armenien, Georgien, Iran und Israel. Es verbindet traditionelle Aşık-Lieder mit Berliner Klangwelten aus Jazz, Klassik und Improvisation. Das iranisch-israelische Ensemble Sistanagila trifft auf die armenische Sängerin Helen Ispirian und die georgische Flötistin Elisabed Gokieli. Gemeinsam erschaffen sie eine zeitgenössische Hommage an den kosmopolitischen Geist Tbilissis – ein Abend über die Kraft der Kunst, Brücken zwischen Kulturen zu bauen.

Die georgische Flötistin Elisabed Gokieli wurde 1988 in Tbilissi geboren und studierte zunächst am Staatlichen Konservatorium Tbilissi, später an der Universität der Künste Berlin. Sie war Stipendiatin zahlreicher Institutionen und spielte als Solistin u. a. im Gustav Mahler Jugend Orchester und beim Brandenburgischen Staatsorchester Frankfurt/Oder. Neben ihrer Orchesterarbeit widmet sie sich der Kammermusik in verschiedenen Ensembles. Mit Projekten wie Piapianissimo verbindet sie klassische Musik mit kreativer Vermittlung für ein junges Publikum.

Die oberfränkisch-armenische Sängerin Helen Ispirian studierte Musical in Wien sowie klassischen und barocken Gesang an der Universität der Künste Berlin. Nach erfolgreichen Jahren in Moskau, wo sie mit ihrer Band Gastarbaiterka auftrat und am Theater Meyerhold spielte, lebt sie heute in Berlin. Als Mezzosopranistin wirkt sie in verschiedenen Ensembles mit, darunter das Trio OrgaVoce und der Symphonische Chor Bamberg. Neben ihrer künstlerischen Arbeit leitet sie Chöre und ist zudem als Regisseurin preisgekrönter Kurzfilme tätig.

Omri Abramov ist ein israelischer Saxophonist. Er ist Co-Leader der Jazz-Fusion-Band 'Niogi' und leitet sein eigenes Trio in NYC. Geboren 1989 in Jerusalem, begann Abramov seine Saxophonausbildung im Alter von 13 Jahren und setzte im Alter von 18 Jahren einen Fuß in die professionelle Welt des Jazz. Bis zum Jahr 2011 spielte Abramov mehrmals mit verschiedenen Gruppen auf einigen der führenden israelischen Jazzfestivals. Sein musikalisches Portfolio umfasst Kollaborationen mit Odean Pope, Ester Rada, Pete Lockett, Roland Guerin, Shai Maestro, Per Mathisen, Marina Maximilian, Heinrich von Kalnein und mehr.

Yuval Halpern wurde 1980 in Israel geboren. Sein Studium in Zeitgenössischer Komposition hat er in der Klasse von Gilius van Bergeijk am Königlichen Konservatorium in Den Haag, Holland abgeschlossen, Er hat an der Berliner Hanns Eisler Musikhochschule in der Klasse von Prof. Maria Baptist weiter studiert und diplomiert. Sein Schaffen umfasst bereits zwei Musicals und eine Vielzahl an weiteren Kompositionen. Seine Filmmusik für "Batman at the Checkpoint" erhielt den Today Award der Berlinale. Seit 2009 dirigiert er den Gospel Chor Sense of Touch in Berlin.

Jawad Salkhordeh, Jahrgang 1980, wuchs in einer Künstlerfamilie in der Provinz Mazandaran am Kaspischen Meer im Norden des Iran auf. Sein Onkel Abolhasan Khoshro ist einer der prominentesten Sänger der Mazandaranischen Volksmusik. Jawad fing schon im jungen Alter an, Tombak, die persische Handtrommel, zu studieren. Zu seinen Lehrern gehört u.a. die Tombak-Legende Bahman Rajabi. Nach einer Reihe von erfolgreichen Konzerten im Iran reiste er im Jahre 2007 nach Deutschland. Seitdem hat er u.a. mit internationalen Formationen in ganz Europa und Armenien konzertiert.

Hemad Darabi wurde 1988 in Abadan/Iran geboren und lebt seit 2010 in Berlin. Im Alter von 8 Jahren hatte er den ersten Gitarrenunterricht. Er genoss eine exzellente Ausbildung sowohl in klassischer Gitarre als auch in der E-Gitarre. Mit 12 Jahren spielte er sein erstes öffentliches Konzert im Iran. Es folgten weitere Auftritte mit namhaften iranischen Musikgruppen. Musikalisch ist Hemad in verschiedenen Genres wie Rock, Pop, Metal und Flamenco zu Hause, wobei er stets versucht, iranische Melodien und Themen in seine Musik einfließen zu lassen. Seine Musik wurde vor allem durch berühmte westliche und iranische Gitarristen wie John Petrucci, Joe Satriani und Armik beeinflusst.

Avi Albers Ben Chamo ist ein israelischer Musiker und Künstler. Er studierte Design in Haifa und Komposition in Berlin. Als Gründer der Initiative “jazzy Berlin” ist er ein elementarer Mitgestalter der hiesigen Musikszene. In der Kunst- wie auch in der Kompositionswelt ist Avi ein vielgefragter und überaus erfolgreicher Akteur.

The Berlin-based Israeli and Iranian musicians of Sistanagila are searching with their project for a new form of musical dialogue.

In their compositions they fuse classical Persian, Sephardic-Jewish and Klezmer music and arrange them in a modern way, with influences both from Flamenco, Jazz and progressive Metal, and so creating a new form of music – and building a bridge between two cultural worlds. The group named itself after an Iranian province – Sistan and Beluchestan – and the popular Jewish folk song „Hava Nagila“.

“Sayat Nova in Berlin – The World of Tomorrow”
Inspired by the Armenian poet Sayat Nova, this project presents a transcultural musical performance featuring artists from Armenia, Georgia, Iran, and Israel. It weaves together traditional Aşık songs with Berlin soundscapes drawn from jazz, classical music, and improvisation. The Iranian-Israeli ensemble Sistanagila joins forces with Armenian singer Helen Ispirian and Georgian flutist Elisabed Gokieli. Together, they create a contemporary homage to the cosmopolitan spirit of Tbilisi – an evening that celebrates the power of art to build bridges between cultures.

The Georgian flutist Elisabed Gokieli was born in Tbilisi in 1988 and first studied at the State Conservatory of Tbilisi before continuing her education at the Berlin University of the Arts. She has received scholarships from numerous institutions and has performed as a soloist with ensembles such as the Gustav Mahler Youth Orchestra and the Brandenburg State Orchestra Frankfurt/Oder. Alongside her orchestral work, she is active in various chamber music ensembles. With projects like Piapianissimo, she combines classical music with creative educational formats for young audiences.

The Upper Franconian–Armenian singer Helen Ispirian studied musical theatre in Vienna as well as classical and baroque singing at the Berlin University of the Arts. After several successful years in Moscow, where she performed with her band Gastarbaiterka and appeared at the Meyerhold Theatre, she now lives in Berlin. As a mezzo-soprano, she performs with various ensembles, including the trio OrgaVoce and the Bamberg Symphony Choir. In addition to her artistic work, she conducts choirs and also directs award-winning short films.

Omri Abramov is an Israeli saxophonist. He is co-leader of the jazz fusion band 'Niogi' and leads his own trio in NYC. He continued his studies at the Hanns Eisler Musikhochschule in Berlin in the class of Prof. Maria Baptist and graduated. His work already includes two musicals and a variety of other compositions. His film music for "Batman at the Checkpoint" received the Today Award of the Berlinale. Since 2009 he conducts the gospel choir Sense of Touch in Berlin.

Jawad Salkhordeh, born in 1980, grew up in a family of artists in Mazandaran province on the Caspian Sea in northern Iran. His uncle Abolhasan Khoshro is one of the most prominent singers of Mazandaran folk music. Jawad began studying tombak, the Persian hand drum, at a young age. Among his teachers was the tombak legend Bahman Rajabi. After a series of successful concerts in Iran, he traveled to Germany in 2007. Since then he has performed with international formations throughout Europe and Armenia, among others.

Hemad Darabi was born in 1988 in Abadan/Iran and has been living in Berlin since 2010. He had his first guitar lessons at the age of 8. He enjoyed excellent training in both classical guitar and electric guitar. At the age of 12 he played his first public concert in Iran. This was followed by other performances with well-known Iranian music groups. Musically, Hemad is at home in various genres such as rock, pop, metal and flamenco, always trying to incorporate Iranian melodies and themes into his music. His music has been influenced mostly by famous Western and Iranian guitarists such as John Petrucci, Joe Satriani and Armik.

Avi Albers Ben Chamo is an Israeli musician and artist. He studied design in Haifa and composition in Berlin. As the founder of the "jazzy Berlin" initiative, he is an elemental contributor to the local music scene. In the art world as well as in the composition world, Avi is a much sought-after and highly successful creator.
