Seine Songs haben Generationen von Künstler:innen beeinflusst und die Nähe zum Jazz ist dabei kaum zu überhören. Mit ihrem Projekt „Stevie’s Call“ nehmen Sänger Frank Scheele und Pianist Peter H. Köcke das musikalische Erbe des Jahrhundertgenies unter die Lupe – und verwandeln bekannte wie selten gehörte Perlen seines Repertoires in fesselnde Jazz-Interpretationen, mal swingend, mal schwebend, mal groovend. Viel Licht in der Stimme: Frank Scheele ist ein Jazz-Vokalist, der den Moment lebt und die Musik zelebriert! Er ist seinen Mitmusiker:innen ein intuitiver Partner auf der Bühne und ein echter Freudespender für sein Publikum. Nach seiner Gesangsausbildung/Vocal Mentoring bei Gertrud Beuchel/Jeff Cascaro durchlief er erste nationale und internationale Bühnen-Stationen in renommierten Bigbands. Nachfolgend gründete er eigene Ensembles, unter anderem mit dem international renommierten Pianisten Pablo Held und anderen Größen der NRW-Musikwelt. Mit seinem Solo-Album »it’s you« mit namhaften Jazzgrößen wie Matthias Bergmann und Silvio Morger gelang ihm der musikalische Durchbruch mit seinen Jazz-Herzensprojekten. Es folgten mehrere erfolgreiche Projekte, die seinen Ruf als feste Größe in der deutschen Jazzwelt zementierten.

Peter H. Köcke ist ein deutscher Jazzpianist. Bereits in seiner Kindheit zeigte er musikalisches Talent und erhielt während seiner Schulzeit Unterricht in Violine und klassischem Klavier, bevor er sich später dem Jazz zuwandte. Von 2015 bis 2020 studierte er Jazzklavier an der Folkwang-Universität der Künste in Essen bei Thomas Rückert und schloss sein Studium mit der Note 1,0 und Auszeichnung ab. Im Rahmen seines Studiums sowie bei internationalen Workshops erhielt er außerdem Unterricht von weltweit renommierten Musikern wie Antonio Farao, Richie Beirach, Chris Potter, Billy Hart, Joe Lovano und Danilo Pérez. Besonders hervorstechend sind seine Energie, seine Spielfreude und sein musikalisches Understatement, das stets von einem feinen Gespür für das Sensible und Kompositorische begleitet wird. Er spielte bereits mit Jazzgrößen wie Axel Fischbacher, Denis Gäbel, Ryan Carniaux, Caris Hermes, Niklas Walter, Julius van Rhee, Leon Plecity und Alex Parzhuber.

John-Dennis Renken wurde in Bremen geboren und lebt seit 2001 im Ruhrgebiet. Er studierte an der Folkwang-Universität der Künste und erarbeitete sich in der gesamtdeutschen Jazzwelt einen herausragenden Ruf. Er tourte bereits mit dem Goethe Institut um die halbe Welt, war Gastsolist bei der WDR Bigband, Improviser in Residence beim Moers Festival und vielfach preisgekrönt. Er spielte beim Montreux Jazzfestival, der jazzahead und neben den oben Genannten vielen weiteren Größen wie Carla Bley, Steve Swallow, Michael Wollny, der NDR Big Band, Angelika Niescier und Robin Eubanks.

Der Saxophonist Milan Kühn schloss 2014 sein Studium in Arnheim an der ArtEZ ab. Anschließend lebte er für zwei Jahren in Paris, wo er in unterschiedlichen Formation wirkte. 2019 wechselte er seinen seinen Wohnsitz zurück nach Deutschland und ist seitdem in NRW in unterschiedlichsten Projekten tätig und sowohl als Saxophonist und als Komponist auf mehreren Studioproduktionen zu hören (Red Hering 2021, Omnibus Volume 2023 & 2024, Sua Galera 2025, Gitti 2025, Dammnation 2025) und teilte die Bühne unter anderem mit Christof Söhngen, Duy Luong, Roland Höppner, Jonathan Böbel, Tom Ford, Milan Svoboda und Earl Mobilee. Seine Virtuosität und seine unbedingte Präsenz kennzeichnen sein Spiel.

Geboren und aufgewachsen in Hanoi, wuchs Duy Luong in einer musikalischen Familie auf. Nach einer klassischen Gitarrenausbildung entdeckte er den Bass für sich. 2014 begann er sein Jazz-Studium an der Folkwang Universität der Künste in Essen bei Robert Landfermann und Stefan Rademacher und entwickelte sich zu einem vielseitigen Musiker auf Kontrabass und E-Bass. Sein musikalisches Schaffen erstreckt sich über zahlreiche Projekte und Genres, darunter Jazz, elektronische und experimentelle Musik. Musiker und Komponist wirkte er an diversen Albumproduktionen mit und trat international auf. Er hat mit Ryan Carniaux, Darius Heid, Ly Trang, Vincent Dombrowskis Flow Regulator, Joan Chavez und vielen anderen zusammengearbeitet und nahm an Konzerttourneen und Albumproduktionen im Rahmen des Improvisers in Residence-Programms des Moers Festivals 2022 teil, gemeinsam mit Kevin Shea und Matt Mottel.

Ausgebildet am Konservatorium der Stadt Luxemburg und an der Folkwang Universität, ist Benny Hoffmann heute als aufstrebender und vielseitiger Schlagzeuger in ganz Deutschland aktiv. Seine Arbeit umfasst eine Vielzahl von Projekten in Jazz, Funk und Pop. Mit dem Lyrical Jazz Project ist er Stipendiat der Dörken Stiftung, sein Projekt Beat Kinetics repräsentiert 2025 die Folkwang Universität beim Campus Jazz Konzert.

A voice full of light: Frank Scheele is a jazz vocalist who lives in the moment and celebrates music! On stage, he is an intuitive partner to his fellow musicians and a true source of joy for his audience. After completing his vocal training/mentoring with Gertrud Beuchel and Jeff Cascaro, he gained his first national and international stage experience in renowned big bands. He then went on to form his own ensembles, including collaborations with internationally acclaimed pianist Pablo Held and other leading figures from the jazz scene in North Rhine-Westphalia. With his solo album it's you, featuring renowned jazz musicians such as Matthias Bergmann and Silvio Morger, he achieved his breakthrough in the jazz world with projects close to his heart. Several successful follow-up projects further established his reputation as a prominent figure in the German jazz scene.

Peter H. Köcke is a German jazz pianist. He showed musical talent from an early age and began studying violin and classical piano during his school years before later turning to jazz. From 2015 to 2020, he studied jazz piano at the Folkwang University of the Arts in Essen under Thomas Rückert, graduating with top honors (grade 1.0). Throughout his studies and in various workshops, he also received guidance from internationally acclaimed artists such as Antonio Farao, Richie Beirach, Chris Potter, Billy Hart, Joe Lovano, and Danilo Pérez. Known for his energy, joyful playing, and subtle musical understatement, Köcke brings a strong sense of sensitivity and compositional depth to every formation he plays with. He has performed alongside jazz greats like Axel Fischbacher, Denis Gäbel, Ryan Carniaux, Caris Hermes, Niklas Walter, Julius van Rhee, Leon Plecity, and Alex Parzhuber.

John-Dennis Renken was born in Bremen and has been living in the Ruhr area since 2001. He studied at the Folkwang University of the Arts and established an outstanding reputation throughout the German jazz scene. He has toured half the world with the Goethe-Institut, appeared as a guest soloist with the WDR Big Band, served as Improviser in Residence at the Moers Festival, and has received numerous awards. He has performed at the Montreux Jazz Festival, jazzahead, and alongside many prominent artists such as Carla Bley, Steve Swallow, Michael Wollny, the NDR Big Band, Angelika Niescier, and Robin Eubanks.

Saxophonist Milan Kühn completed his studies at ArtEZ in Arnhem in 2014. He then lived in Paris for two years, performing in a variety of ensembles. In 2019, he returned to Germany and has since been active in numerous projects across North Rhine-Westphalia. He is featured as both a saxophonist and composer on several studio productions (Red Hering 2021, Omnibus Volume 2023 & 2024, Sua Galera 2025, Gitti 2025, Dammnation 2025), and has shared the stage with Christof Söhngen, Duy Luong, Roland Höppner, Jonathan Böbel, Tom Ford, Milan Svoboda, and Earl Mobilee. His playing is characterized by virtuosity and an unwavering stage presence.

Born and raised in Hanoi, Duy Luong grew up in a musical family. After receiving classical guitar training, he discovered his passion for the bass. In 2014, he began studying jazz at the Folkwang University of the Arts in Essen under Robert Landfermann and Stefan Rademacher, developing into a versatile musician on both double bass and electric bass. His musical work spans a wide range of projects and genres, including jazz, electronic, and experimental music. As a musician and composer, he has contributed to various album productions and performed internationally. He has collaborated with Ryan Carniaux, Darius Heid, Ly Trang, Vincent Dombrowski’s Flow Regulator, Joan Chavez, and many others, and took part in concert tours and album productions as part of the Improviser in Residence program at the Moers Festival in 2022, together with Kevin Shea and Matt Mottel.

Trained at the Conservatory of the City of Luxembourg and the Folkwang University, Benny Hoffmann is now an emerging and versatile drummer active throughout Germany. His work includes a wide range of projects in jazz, funk, and pop. With the Lyrical Jazz Project, he is a scholarship holder of the Dörken Foundation, and his project Beat Kinetics will represent the Folkwang University at the Campus Jazz concert in 2025.
