Ingrid Arthur is back! Erneut begrüßen wir eine der großen Soulstimmen Berlins im Zig Zag – und wer Ingrid in den vergangenen Jahren bei uns erlebt hat, weiß, was das bedeutet. Das ehemalige Mitglied der Weather Girls verbindet die Kraft ihrer Gospel-Wurzeln mit Soul, Jazz und R&B und gehört längst zu den absoluten Publikumslieblingen unseres Clubs. Dieses Mal präsentiert sie ihr Programm in einer besonderen Doppelshow und bringt mit Arif Vega einen Special Guest mit auf die Bühne.
Die in Gainesville, Georgia, geborene Ingrid Arthur begann ihre Karriere in der amerikanischen Gospeltradition und arbeitete mit Künstlerinnen wie Cissy Houston, Bette Midler, Tramaine Hawkins, Shirley Caesar und Dorothy Norwood. Später führten sie ihre Engagements nach Europa, wo sie unter anderem mit den Golden Gospel Singers und dem James Last Orchestra tourte. Internationale Bekanntheit erlangte sie schließlich als Mitglied der Weather Girls.
Seit 2002 lebt Ingrid Arthur in Berlin und ist aus der hiesigen Soul- und Gospel-Szene kaum noch wegzudenken. Ob Aretha Franklin, Gospel, Funk oder klassische Soul-Hymnen – im Mittelpunkt steht dabei immer eine Stimme, für die das Wort „powerful“ tatsächlich einmal angebracht ist. Unterstützt wird sie dabei wie immer von einer exquisit besetzten Band aus den besten Berliner Sessionmusikern.
Für diese Ausgabe wird sie außerdem von Arif Vega als Special Guest unterstützt. Gemeinsam präsentieren die beiden einen Abend zwischen Soul, Gospel, Jazz und R&B – gleich zweimal an einem Abend im Zig Zag Jazz Club.
Ingrid Arthur is back! Once again, we welcome one of Berlin’s great soul voices to the Zig Zag – and anyone who has experienced Ingrid here over the past years knows what that means. The former member of the Weather Girls combines the power of her gospel roots with soul, jazz and R&B and has long become one of our club’s absolute audience favourites. This time, she presents her programme in a special double show and brings Arif Vega to the stage as her special guest.
Born in Gainesville, Georgia, Ingrid Arthur began her career in the American gospel tradition and has worked with artists including Cissy Houston, Bette Midler, Tramaine Hawkins, Shirley Caesar and Dorothy Norwood. Her career later brought her to Europe, where she toured with the Golden Gospel Singers and the James Last Orchestra, among others. She eventually gained international recognition as a member of the Weather Girls.
Based in Berlin since 2002, Ingrid Arthur has become a major presence on the city’s soul and gospel scene. Whether interpreting Aretha Franklin, gospel, funk or classic soul anthems, at the centre of it all is a voice for which the word “powerful” is, for once, entirely appropriate. Her numerous concerts with us have long made Ingrid a firm part of the Zig Zag family.
For this edition, she is joined by Arif Vega as special guest. Together, they present an evening of soul, gospel, jazz and R&B – twice in one night at the Zig Zag Jazz Club.
