MICA MILLAR ist eine britische Soul-Sängerin, Songwriterin, Produzentin und kompromisslos unabhängige kreative Kraft, deren Musik den zeitlosen Genres Soul, RnB, Blues, Gospel und Jazz eine zeitgenössische, weibliche Perspektive verleiht. Seit der Veröffentlichung ihres gefeierten Debütalbums Heaven Knows im Jahr 2022 hat sich Millar zu einer der eindrucksvollsten zeitgenössischen Soul-Stimmen Großbritanniens entwickelt. Ihr lang erwartetes zweites Album A Little Bit of Me ist ihr bislang intimstes und persönlichstes Werk, geprägt von Selbstfindung, spiritueller Auseinandersetzung und den emotionalen Erfahrungen, die die vergangenen sechs Jahre ihres Lebens bestimmt haben.
Als selbstständige Künstlerin, die ihre Karriere eigenständig managt, und Gründerin ihres eigenen Independent-Labels Golden Hour Music hat Millar sich über gängige Strukturen der Musikindustrie hinweggesetzt und internationale Anerkennung vollständig zu ihren eigenen Bedingungen erlangt. Ihr selbst geschriebenes und selbst produziertes Debüt Heaven Knows, gemastert in den Abbey Road Studios, beschäftigt sich mit Themen wie menschlicher Natur, Spiritualität, Liebe, Unterdrückung, Ungleichheit und Empowerment und verbindet dabei eine facettenreiche Klangwelt aus klassischem Soul, Blues, Gospel und Jazz. Seitdem stand sie an der Seite von Künstlern wie Gladys Knight, Stevie Wonder, Lionel Ritchie und Gregory Porter auf der Bühne und spielte ausverkaufte Headline-Shows in ganz Europa und Großbritannien.
Ihr neues Album A Little Bit of Me wurde von ihr selbst geschrieben und produziert und in den Miraval Studios in Südfrankreich gemeinsam mit Musikern und Produzenten realisiert, die bereits mit Taj Mahal, Keb’ Mo’, Macy Gray, Beyoncé, Janet Jackson, Erykah Badu und Joss Stone gearbeitet haben. MICA MILLAR is a British soul singer, songwriter, producer and fiercely independent creative force whose music brings a contemporary, female perspective to the timeless genres of soul, RnB, blues, gospel and jazz. Since the release of her acclaimed debut album Heaven Knows in 2022, Millar has become one of the United Kingdom’s most compelling contemporary soul voices. Her long-awaited second album, A Little Bit of Me, marks her most intimate and revealing work to date, shaped by self-discovery, spiritual inquiry and the emotional realities that have defined the past six years of her life.
As a self-managed artist and founder of her own independent label Golden Hour Music, Millar has defied industry norms and achieved international recognition entirely on her own terms. Her self-written and self-produced debut Heaven Knows, mastered at Abbey Road Studios, explored themes of human nature, spirituality, love, oppression, inequality and empowerment through a rich palette of classic soul, blues, gospel and jazz. The album received widespread acclaim: Jazz FM named it Album of the Week, Blues and Soul Magazine placed her on its cover, and Millar went on to win the Jazz FM Award for Soul Act of the Year and was inducted into the Recording Academy in 2023. She has since appeared alongside artists including Gladys Knight, Stevie Wonder, Lionel Ritchie and Gregory Porter, while playing sold-out headline shows across Europe and the UK.
Her new album A Little Bit of Me was self-written and self-produced and brought to life at Miraval Studios in the south of France, working with musicians and producers whose credits include Taj Mahal, Keb’ Mo’, Macy Gray, Beyoncé, Janet Jackson, Erykah Badu and Joss Stone. Across the album, Millar examines emotional duality – aspiration and self-preservation, desire and truth, longing and clarity – from a deeply personal, female perspective, while drawing inspiration from the soul and girl-group records of the sixties.
