Am 15.08. freuen wir uns Sie ein weiteres Mal zu unserer Reihe Legacy of Giants einladen zu können. Was wäre die heutige Jazzmusik ohne die kreativen Giganten, die diese Kunstform mit ihrem Weitblick und ihrer unbändigen Energie zu dem gemacht haben, was sie heute ist? Mit Legacy of Giants zollen wir gemeinsam mit den führenden Figuren der Berliner und der internationalen Jazzwelt den ganz Großen der Jazzgeschichte Tribut. Heute führt sie mit Omri Abramov einer der europaweit renommiertesten jungen Saxophonisten durch einen Abend voller Lyrik, Groove, Virtuosität und Hingabe mit den bahnbrechenden Werke von Keith Jarrett, Bobby Hutcherson, Joe Henderson und anderen Größen der modernen Jazz-Ära!

Omri Abramov ist ein israelischer Saxophonist, Komponist und Produzent. Er leitet das in New York ansässige Trio Hovercraft, ist Co-Leader des in Berlin beheimateten Big Berry sowie des Jazz-Fusion-Trios NITT. Darüber hinaus präsentiert Omri sein Können als Saxophonist und EWI-Spieler (Electronic Wind Instrument) an der Seite der international gefeierten Sängerin Noa. Er ist Tenorsaxophonist und Flötist in Omer Kleins Projekt The Poetics sowie Produzent und Saxophonist des iranisch-israelischen Ethno-Jazz-Ensembles Sistanagila. Omris beeindruckender musikalischer Werdegang umfasst bemerkenswerte Auftritte und Studiozusammenarbeiten mit renommierten Künstlern wie Dennis Chambers, Kurt Rosenwinkel, Odean Pope, Shai Maestro, Pete Lockett und anderen. Absolvent des ICM (Israeli Conservatory of Music) im Fach Jazz-Performance und Träger des IACF-Stipendiums für die Jahre 2007–2011 mit Auszeichnung, lebt Abramov heute in Berlin und tritt regelmäßig in Europa, den USA und Asien mit verschiedenen Jazz-, Weltmusik- und elektronischen Musikprojekten auf.

Dima Bondarev gehört zur absoluten Spitzenklasse der europäischen Jazzszene. Ursprünglich aus der Ukraine stammend, perfektionierte Bondarev sein Handwerk am Jazz-Institut Berlin und am Jazzcampus Basel, wo er bei Jazzgrößen wie Ambrose Akinmusire, Alex Sipiagin und Gerard Presencer studierte. Sein einzigartiger Stil verbindet modernen Jazz mit tiefgründiger emotionaler Ausdruckskraft, was ihm als Bandleader große Anerkennung einbrachte. Bondarev trat auf renommierten Festivals und in angesehenen Spielstätten in ganz Europa auf und spielte mit gefeierten Künstlern wie Aaron Parks, Kurt Rosenwinkel, Jorge Rossy, Joey Baron, Jim Black, Greg Cohen, Lionel Loueke, Wolfgang Muthspiel, Elena Pinderhughes und vielen anderen.

Tino Derado: Professor an der HfMH und am Jazz-Institut Berlin. Er lebte für 14 Jahre in New York City und war dort ein aktives Mitglied der lokalen Jazzszene. Sein Portfolio beinhaltet Zusammenarbeiten mit Jamey Haddad, Gary Burton, Peter Erskine, Richard Bona, Andy Gonzalez und vielen mehr. Er ist einer der vielseitigsten und kompetentesten in Deutschland lebenden Pianisten.

Josh Ginsburg ist eine feste Größe auf den Konzertbühnen und in den Jazzclubs der Welt. Sein jüngstes Album als Leader, "Zembla Variations", wurde vom New York City Jazz Record zum Album des Jahres gewählt. Als New Yorker Musiker der ersten Stunde trat er regelmäßig mit zahlreichen einflussreichen Musikern auf und war auf internationalen Tourneen mit Bands von Kurt Rosenwinkel, David Friedman, Jeremy Pelt, E.J. Strickland, George Colligan, Jure Pukl, Logan Richardson, Diego Piñera, Tino Derado und Aruán Ortiz.

Diego Pinera, preisgekrönter Jazzvirtuose, ist eine einzigartige Persönlichkeit, die der Musik wirklich neue Wege weist, indem er die poetisch-rhythmische Freiheit des Jazz anderen metrischen Systemen gegenüberstellt. Sein charakterstarker persönlicher Stil ist geprägt durch ein avanciert rhythmisches Spielkonzept, ein Jazz-Sound mit Latin-Touch sowie dem Freiheitdrang der Improvisation. Musikalische Komplexität sowie Virtuosität bleiben bei Pinera aber stets subtil, eine besondere Frische und Leichtigkeit durchströmt sein künstlerisches Schaffen. Seit 2002 wurde Diego Piñera sowohl als Drummer „Instrumentalist“ als auch als Songwriter international wie national mehrfach ausgezeichnet, mit dem ECHO JAZZ 2017 und dem Deutschen Jazzpreis 2023 . Das bei ACT Records erschienene Album Odd Wisdom, bei dem u.A. mit Donny McCaslin erhielt eine Grammy-Nominierung. Er gilt als Ausnahmekünstler seines Faches.

Omri Abramov is an accomplished Israeli saxophonist, composer, and producer. He leads the New York City-based trio Hovercraft, co-leads the Berlin based Big Berry and the jazz-fusion trio NITT. Beyond these roles, Omri showcases his skills as a saxophonist and EWI (Electronic Wind Instrument) player alongside the internationally acclaimed singer Noa. He is the Tenor Sax and Flute player in Omer Klein‘s ‘The Poetics’, and is the producer and saxophonist of Iranian-Israeli ethno jazz ensemble Sistanagila. Omri’s impressive musical journey includes noteworthy performances and studio collaborations with acclaimed artists such as Dennis Chambers, Kurt Rosenwinkel, Odean Pope, Shai Maestro, Pete Lockett and others. Diego Pinera, award-winning jazz virtuoso, is a unique personality who truly breaks new ground for music by juxtaposing the poetic-rhythmic freedom of jazz with other metric systems. His strong character personal style is characterized by an advanced rhythmic concept of playing, a jazz sound with a Latin touch as well as the freedom urge of improvisation. However, musical complexity as well as virtuosity always remain subtle with Pinera, a special freshness and lightness flows through his artistic work. Since 2002, Diego Piñera has received several awards both as a drummer "instrumentalist" and as a songwriter, both internationally and nationally, with the ECHO JAZZ 2017 and the German Jazz Award 2023 . The album Odd Wisdom, released on ACT Records, with Donny McCaslin among others, received a Grammy nomination. He is considered an exceptional artist in his field.
