Zupackendes Timing und ein hypnotisches melodisches Zusammenspiel lassen ein musikalisches Feuerwerk entstehen. Das Weniger/Morello US Quartet bringt Jazz auf höchstem Niveau auf die Bühne. Die beiden Virtuosen vereinen gemeinsam mit dem weltbekannten Bassisten John Goldsby und dem legendären Drummer Adam Nussbaum moderne Jazzästhetik mit groovenden Rhythmen und lyrischer Tiefe.

Peter Weniger – „Being part in the act of creation“ – mit diesem Credo ist der Saxophonist in zahlreichen musikalischen Projekten verschiedenster Genres international tätig. Hohe Emotionalität und brillante Virtuosität zeichnen seine musikalische Aussage aus. Zahlreiche Preise, Auszeichnungen und Auftritte mit Jasper van’t Hof, Billy Cobham, Maceo Parker, Eddie Palmieri, Django Bates, Mike Stern, Peter Herbolzheimers RC&B und den ARD Big Bands von SWR, HR, NDR und WDR unterstreichen seine internationale Strahlkraft. Seit Oktober 1999 lehrt er als Professor an der Universität der Künste Berlin.

Paulo Morello gilt als einer der interessantesten Jazzgitarristen Europas. Dies zeigt sich an seinen erfolgreichen internationalen Projekten mit dem Trompeten-Star Randy Brecker, der Bossa-Nova-Legende Leny Andrade und der Night Of Jazz Guitars mit dem späten Larry Coryell. Mit ihnen gastierte Morello auf den bedeutendsten europäischen und südamerikanischen Festivals. Darüber hinaus arbeitete er mit Jimmy Smith, Bob Mintzer, Paul Kuhn, Billy Cobham, Airto Moreira, Philip Catherine und Pat Martino zusammen. Morello lehrt als Professor für Jazzgitarre am Jazz Institut Berlin.

John Goldsby spielte von 1994 bis 2024 als Solo-Bassist in der Grammy-prämierten WDR Big Band in Köln. Zuvor war er eine feste Größe der New Yorker Jazzszene und veröffentlichte auch als Bandleader zahlreiche Alben. Mit der WDR Big Band trat Goldsby jahrzehntelang mit internationalen Stars wie Joe Lovano, Patti Austin, Maceo Parker, Jacob Collier, Knower, Antonio Sánchez und Chucho Valdés auf. Neben seiner künstlerischen Tätigkeit unterrichtet er am Conservatorium in Maastricht.

Adam Nussbaum ist einer der besten Schlagzeuger der Gegenwart. Die Liste der Künstler, mit denen er zusammengearbeitet hat, liest sich wie ein „Who is Who“ der Jazzwelt: John Abercrombie, Michael & Randy Brecker, Eliane Elias, Gil Evans, Stan Getz, Vic Juris, James Moody, John Scofield, Joe Sample, Ohad Talmor, „Toots“ Thielemans, Kenny Wheeler & NHØP. Nussbaums zugleich zupackender und sensibler Stil hat Generationen von Schlagzeugern maßgeblich geprägt.

Peter Weniger – “Being part in the act of creation” – with this credo, the saxophonist has been active internationally in numerous projects across a wide range of genres. His musical expression is marked by high emotionality and brilliant virtuosity. Numerous awards and appearances with Jasper van’t Hof, Billy Cobham, Maceo Parker, Eddie Palmieri, Django Bates, Mike Stern, Peter Herbolzheimer’s RC&B and the ARD Big Bands of SWR, HR, NDR and WDR highlight his international standing. Since October 1999, he has been Professor at the Berlin University of the Arts.

Paulo Morello is considered one of Europe’s most fascinating jazz guitarists. This is evident in his successful international projects with trumpet star Randy Brecker, Bossa Nova legend Leny Andrade and the Night of Jazz Guitars alongside the late Larry Coryell. With them, Morello has performed at the most important European and South American festivals. John Goldsby was solo bassist with the Grammy Award-winning WDR Big Band in Cologne from 1994 to 2024. Before that, he was a fixture on the New York jazz scene and released numerous albums as a bandleader. With the WDR Big Band, Goldsby performed for decades with international stars such as Joe Lovano, Patti Austin, Maceo Parker, Jacob Collier, Knower, Antonio Sánchez and Chucho Valdés. In addition to his artistic work, he teaches at the Conservatorium in Maastricht.

Adam Nussbaum is one of the finest drummers of our time. The list of artists he has worked with reads like a “Who’s Who” of the jazz world: John Abercrombie, Michael & Randy Brecker, Eliane Elias, Gil Evans, Stan Getz, Vic Juris, James Moody, John Scofield, Joe Sample, Ohad Talmor, “Toots” Thielemans, Kenny Wheeler & NHØP. Nussbaum’s simultaneously powerful and sensitive style has profoundly influenced generations of drummers.
